« on: September 01, 2004, 01:03:00 AM »

well,  rolling back the OS doesn't work.... if i try to go to 1.1 the screen just goes yellow...... 2.0 beta 1,  'getNextClusterInChain: Attempt to access invalid cluster'

so it looks like my HDD is totalled.   Very peeved at the mo.

um, can someone point me towards something that will restore the default mdash etc...

i formatted my hdd (c partition) and now, even though i put all of evox back on, it won't boot to evox.... it just sits there at a half faded half visible evox desktop.

and yeah, i've been putting stuff on and off quite a bit.  But most peeps here throw away the idea of fragmentation.

Is there a way to format c,e,x,y,z (leaving F intact)?

thanks for the help guys

okay..... if anyone is still listening.

I got the msdash back on and it works fine, loads first go everytime.

I formatted C,E,X,Y,Z w/ the xenium OS 2.0

put everything back on and nothing has changed.  Although, now i cannot get into a dash other than MSDash.  It just sits there on the Xbox screen w/executer2 at the bottom.

I have tried creating/burning an image ( i got an auto installer similar to slayers( it's where i got the msdash from too))  onto a cd-rw so i could read it (thomson drive) but to no avail.  It refuses to read the disk at all.

So now i'm stuck with no dashes to use and only the msdash and the xenium OS.

Man this really sucks.   Any more help would be appreciated.

Where and when did you purchase your chip?

If you can see teh "Xecuter2" logo then the BIOS is loading fine, and that means the mod chip is working fine too.

Sounds to me like your BIOS can't find the dashboard (perhaps because its a hacked up bios with a strange boot order)

modchip w/harddrive around 3-4 months ago.

Doesn't matter though (but yeah, i've tried 6 different bioses X2's, M7, M8), i'm going back to the mod guy to get either a new xenium or a new harddrive.

Thanks for your help guys.  And your time.  He said it sounds like a corrupted harddrive.

Hopefully this transition goes smoothly.

I meant what reseller was the chip purchased through.

Anyways, good luck to you!

i'm not sure of his reseller but the place (business name) is stealth mods.. it was his site that educated me on the fake xeniums and he clearly explained and showed me a fake, and a real one when i was there.

Anyways.... he saw my machine and couldn't figure it out either, and dropped in a new WD 2500 (250gig).....  on a note though,  when he first put in my old hdd, he dropped it on the floor.  Hdd's are supposed to withstand shock, but i don't know how much.

But yeah,  new harddrive is in and everything is working perfectly once again.

Now i'm just waiting on a 230gig transfer (HDD to HDD in the xbox (replaced dvd with hdd))..... and it's taking a little while.  Although i'm sure ftp'ing to my computer would take a life time.

Thanks for reading and helping, but a new one fixed the problem.

Scott.

HDs *really* don't like being dropped on floors wink.gif

I hope for your sake that one isn't in there anymore.
