UPGRADE PROCEDURE
===================

We recomend upgrade procedure is done with cdrom ISO version, simply unpack and burn the ISO .. ensuring you set Disk at once option (please follow the manual, should you require further assistance) alternatively:

Place the recovery.bin file on your console's E:\ and entering Recovery Mode thru the Xenium-OS menu or by changing the position of the switch on your Xenium, once update has been completed we strongly suggest that the recovery.bin file is either renamed or deleted, to prevent the Upgrade process from being performed unintentionally and your Xenium-OS settings being reset.

Tried doing this..burned the ISO, put the recovery.bin on E:\, used soft recover. System just resets, reboots and then flashes orange.

Did hard recover and it FRAGs.

Tried placing recovery.bin on C:\ as well. no go.

For my 1.6 the recover-from-hdd would not work (Flashing orange then solid red).

Burning the ISO did work tho; insert the disc, gto to recovery mode, it'll flash red and green while it reads the disc and the chips LEDs will cycle. Then the xbox will shutoff when it's done.

Make sure your xbox can read the media you're using, or it will not work wink.gif

In any case, I lied.. that was from the read-me with the beta 1 release... still appliestho; although I'd use the CD-method... (Don't think (m)any have gotten the HDD method to work)

I just did the HHD method, and it worked fine for me. I like loading the stuff off my xbox hdd, because burning xiso's with a Mac angers me greatly.

Good luck!

**edite** This is my first time using OS2, I waited until there was a more stable version. Must say, very nice! The loading is a little slow, but I might just be picky.

Well, maybe it worked for you because you started with XOS1.1 or possibly because you don't have a 1.6 ;-)

In any case, @ Beebs the ISO they distributed wasnt and xiso, just a regular one; toast handles it fine.

As for xisos, a nice utility (CLI, tho there are a few GUI frontends to it; none I like) called extract-xiso that works in OS X, extracts, burns, and even FTPs xisos for you ;-)

Indeedy! I'll have to look up this software. But ever since I figured out my networking connection, all I've ever used is my FTP client to upload software to my xbox, screw the burning process, heh heh. What client do you use? I find that RBrowser Lite works like a charm.

No. Just burn the ISO, no xiso needed.

My 1.6  w/ a philips drive reads CD-R just fine; YMMV™

I'm glad too smile.gif

Although there are still some questions...

does the fix in beta 2 work retrospectively? or will people still have to 'fix' the problem with XOS2beta1 and XOS2PR?

Is using the evox e format fix the best solution?

That type of thing smile.gif

Anyway, I'm just reading up on experiences before *attempting* an upgrade via HD smile.gif
