Yes you solder the 10 pads on the chip to the lpc.  I think the picture you are referring to is an example of what a good solder conenction is compared to a bad solder connection.

In reply to your second post which just popped up....

The chip gets power and ground from the lpc bus.... on the ver 1.5 machines the power was cut from lpc bus, that's why you need to provide it from elsewhere on the board.  If you don't have a 1.5 machine, and I doubt that you do, you don't need to worry about this.

also you said 10 solder points on mine i see all 10 points but on one of the the xenium doesnt have a pad next to it...just a circle about quarter millimeter away?

also on the led board or whatever there are 2 ports can i plug the little cable in either one or does it matter

also what is that one little peice that plugs in...has a black wire and a blue prestripped on the end...and on the wire loom was i supposed to use the black wire with the ground on it...cus its just like flopping around in the air...

The black/blue wire is optional.  you can solder the blue wire to D0 then plug the other end to the modchip.  The black is for ground, don't worry about it.

The black ground wire on the loom can be attached, just stick it under a mobo screw.
