Xodus And Ozxchip Split
« Reply #31 on: August 23, 2004, 12:59:00 PM »

I'll admit that I've been an Xodus fan for some time now.  I first got involved in the mod scene around the same time the Chameleon's life was near it's end and Xodus had issues with their manufacturer at the time.  They've always had the best product available with the worst distribution channels - and even by picking "Authorized Resellers" they've still ended up on the short side of the stick.  I was unfortunate to have bought a different modchip due to the lack of the Chameleon (the REAL one) towards the end of its life.  I will soon be replacing it with the Xenium Ice.

I also do mods for other people in the Southeast US and have used nothing but Xenium modchips since they hit the market.  I've tried others like the X2, but I'm thoroughly impressed and satisfied with the basics that the Xenium chip offers, and have no doubt that OS2 final will truly enhance its capabilities.

The way I see it, Xodus needs to stop developing alliances with people that bring them down.   Whether you're speaking of the Chameleon or the Xenium they've never had luck with strategic alliances.  I don't know if it's due to having 50/50 control of the company or not, but I can speak from experience that 2 people with equal control of a product can surely help it to meet its demise much quicker than they can raise it to glory.

I hope Team Xodus has learned one thing from this - to do things on their own... reap the rewards and benefits of your hard labor for yourselves instead of handing it off to those who would only want to make a buck off your talents.

right, and now ozxchip is still going to make money off the xenium chips and CAN, if they wanted to, put out the same xenium ICE chip with a different name.

LOL, but the question is...... when will it (ever) be final and not beta. LOL.

When it's ready which is a good thing because that means more bug fixes and better features.

flabbergast, you're kidding, right?

Skinning is coming, and is a very minor feature IMO.

BFM is being worked on, it'll be ready when it's done.

This release is much more than minor; a lot of critical bugs have been fixed, and several new features (My favorite being the quickboot feature) added.

Team Xodus is no doubt working hard, and I praise them for working to release stable, kickass software and, imho, the best OS of any chip on the market to date.

They brought themselves down and tried blaming other parties.
Why do you think Australia had a drought on the Ice??? Those bozo's deliberately did it to shirk the blame to their partners in Oz and make them look bad.
For some extremely strange reason they decided to leave the Aussies hanging. Why??? Too small a market share??? Anybody with any business sense would have made sure of an even flow of Ice's to all countries. But NO, because things were going a little sour and the difficulties they were having in releasing a decent OS, they decided to sling the shit at the OzXchip team and blame them for all their woes. Why do you think they wanted to part ways??? Make it look like they've crawled out of the shit and are much better than they were while in parnership. Seems like they want to be hero's and they've now vanquished their foes (OzXchip Team) and they want a purple heart for their heroism.
Without directly blaming the OzXchip Team, their famous speech made it clear that all the delays etc. were due to them. What a joke.
I guarantee their ways will not change. Its a pity, the Xenium is a good item, but its now going to be handled by people who wouldn't be good enough to be a businessmans arsehole.
I personally think the Xenium is the bee's knees of mod chips and I've installed quite a few and have one for my own Box. They are well made and very reliable. BUT, their being handled by people on high horses that won't bother to step off and look at the real world.
My qualm is with the Xodus side of OzXodus, if you haven't already noticed.   tongue.gif
Enough said.

What an absolute joke

What drives development at xodus ? Xecutor rofl the only reason they are releasing this minor release is because they have not had a news item for months and feel leftout.

Expect more updates.. on a more frequent schedule. We are making changes to the os that will simply and speed bug detection, isolation, and removal. As noted in the new release...

Well, if this helps you, everyone isn't as arrogant as other. I, for one am still a loyal customer and have just referred my friend to order an ICE. I know you arn't going to just leave your product out in the cold. If you say you're working on the new OS, then you are working on the new OS. I'm not a disbeliever.

I dont think open-source would do anything but encourage the competition to steal code....  dry.gif
