Xenium Ice On 1.0
« on: August 13, 2004, 08:02:00 AM »

hey all i gotta make this quick,
my buddy put a xenium ice on his 1.0...
it boots about 10% of the time, but only to the xenium os... i put x2 bios on it...  4981 i think, but it doesn't boot to it..... most of the time i get a frag.... but when i dont, i get only the xenium OS... i've gotten it to boot ONCE to the x2 bios, but that was when i was setting up a new hd.. so it didn't go anywhere....
the problem is, that the ONLY computers i'm on are going through a firewall, and there's not much i can get to.... x-s is blocked, but the forums aren't.... ozxodus
site is blocked too....

can someone help please??

thanks,

UPDATE:
alright... i had some time today to open her up and look inside....
the top d0 point appears to have been ripped out... it's missing about 1/8 inch of the trace, and he had it soldered on the WRONG alternate d0, i fixed it on the bottom...
i can boot to the xenium OS fine, but not any bios
i just have 2 questions for now... (until i can do further testing)

1. with the top d0 "broken", should the ice still be able to boot (a bios) using the alternate d0 point? or does the top need to be repaired?

2. does the "Xternal LED " have to be connected? or can it work w/o it?

thank you much,

if the top d0 is totaly screwed up and the trace is broken.. you have to fix that or the alternate won't work either

WOOHOO!!! thanks all, i fixed it..... now i have burnt fingertips.... but oh well....

i just ran a wire from where the d0 was broken on the top, to the underside of the mobo... no to the alternate, but to where the d0 continues, there is a spot where you can solder to w/o having to prep the spot... took a while to find since my eyes aren't as great anymore.... but after about 30min and ALOT of patiants.... i got flubber....

thank you all, you guys rock......
