Ok here goes....

Let's go over the 3 options from the Xenium launch menu.

1. TSOP - This option will load the stock MS BIOS from your motherboard. This is used for logging into XBox Live and not getting banned.

2.  File - This will allow you to load a BIOS file into the Xenium chip to boot from.  BIOS files are usually either 256k or 1MB in size and have a file extension of .BIN.  Some of the more common BIOS files are Evox M8 and X2 4983.

3.  Hard Disk - this option is planned to be released in the final version of Xenium OS 2.0 but is currently disabled in the beta version which all chips are currently shipped with.  In future releases you should be able to keep the .BIN files on your hard disk and boot directly from there instead of loading them into the Xenium flash banks.

So, basically you've been trying to add an XBE file (avalaunch.xbe) as your BIOS file when that is not the correct file to be pointing to.

Hope this gives you a little insight and help you out some.

Why don't you use complex tools?, you can get it from the usual places.

The Xenium doesn't ship with the Cromwell BIOS.  This is something that was used in prior modchips to enable the loading of a BIOS.  With the Xenium OS you can configure FTP and SAMBA server access - so there's no more need for the cromwell BIOS to be preloaded.

You need to find a copy of Evox M8 BIOS and copy that over to your XBox hard disk using the Xenium OS.  Then pick that .BIN file that you copy over as a FILE to load to a bank and you should be all set.

One last thing... did you upgrade the hard disk in the Xbox and if so, to what capacity?  If it's over 137GB you will need a BIOS that has the LBA48 extensions enabled or use one of the tools available to modify the M8 BIOS file you download.

Best of luck.

Sorry I don't have any instant messengers here at work and can't install any of them so I can't be of much help there.  All I can say about Evox M8 (and other BIOSes) is that they're available from "The Usual Places" - I realize you don't know where this refers to but hopefully someone will chime in that can provide more direct help via an instant messenger or something.  Thanks to the forum rules my hands are tied - and rightfully so since I wouldn't want any of the Xbox Scene staff to be held liable for hosting a forum that supports piracy as they clearly do NOT support or condone it in any way, shape or form.  This is something you'll just have to figure out or get help from elsewhere (meaning outside of these forums).  Sorry.

Feel free to AIM me @ iwant2bskiing if you have any questions you can't get answered here; I'm usually around.

In any case, to backup your games to your xbox, use dvd2xbox....
