whoever this person you talked to didnt know shit. Either chip you can do the same crap. The OS's look different and each might do a few smaller different things (like on might display your kernal info or sumthing), but the general shit, backing up games on the HD, playing backed up games on burned DVD media, running custom dashboards etc are all the freakin same because this is done with dashboards that you load onto the xbox after purchesing. All the chips can pretty much do it all (in terms of the 4th generation chips, this includes the xenium and smartxx). The chip you choose is up to you but your not gonna lose anything by choosing one or the other, especially if your new to xbox modding.
