this is the msg i get on Mech Assault. i am going to try to and replace my hd with original one and remove the chip to see if i can connect to live. If not then i know my account is doomed.

must i always replace the hd to original if i want to play on live?

sounds like your banned from live. are you sure your booting the tsop ? cause if you aren't x2 bios by default blocks live.

yeah thats what mine did. 2 other hdd's worked but the one I wanted didn't lol, till I formatted it. I know it sucks but live is worth it

Thats what I did, before I even installed my chip, i ran the update, let it do its thing, then installed / coppied all the original stuff and it works.

The modified xbox message won't come on the first attempt to connect with a modified console. It usually takes a few days after logging into XBL before you receive it.

In every case I've heard of, people that got banned did something wrong. XBL does not ban for large hard disks or foreign files as of yet. Precedent makes it illegal for them to scan for anything but their own software as it is a violation of users privacy rights.

Is your New HD lockable?

And I hear that live may use z partition...dosn't hurt copying the entire disk when you trying to keep things working.

is that the new 80gb does not have my Live setting automatically on the HD. when i choose an account for LIve there is NONE there!! i have to load the live account off of the Memory Card. whereas on my original HD i am able to choose my LIve account. and as i said before, if i try to go to recover account, then the system will just freeze.

well thanks everyone for the help but it looks like its for no use. i do not have the money to go out and buy another HD to test it to see if that is the problem. i guess i will be swapping my HD's in and out every single time i am to play live
