| blue xeniums *CAN* be blindly updated to XOS2... Just remember that it isn't XOS2 PR, and until a new 'beta' is released you'll need to solder D0 on the chip to ground. |
Blue Xeniums can NOT be blindly upgraded. When you put the chip in and turn the XBOX on, it FRAGs. Take the chip out and it boots. Put it back in and it FRAGs. Put an ICE in and it boots. Because the blue Xenium does not have the appropriate interface to the video, it causes the XBOX to FRAG. Blue Xeniums can only be updated on a pre-1.6 console for use in a 1.6.
As for the LFRAME grounding issue, there is a logic change that took place in the ICE's CPLD that is why the LFRAME does not need grounding with the ICE and does need it without the ICE. It doesn't really matter, though, because once the Blue chip is running, just flash Kernel 5838 to a Xenium bios bank (instead of accessing the TSOP bios) and you can still boot up as a stock XBOX.
EDIT: corrected a typo...
