Xenium Guide To 1.6 Xboxen
« on: July 17, 2004, 08:15:00 PM »

I have v1.6 and Xenium BLUE and I do NOT have older box.
Can I still put BLUE in v1.6 box, and flash it to OS2?

In the guide, prior to flash BIOS, I MUST have Xenium with OS2 flashed.

Thanks!

as far as i believe you CANNOT run the chip without OS2 on a 1.6 xbox...

i do not think it can communicate with the eeprom and different perephrials, but i may be wrong.  im 99.9% sure you cant. and i dont know of another way for you to do it.

So I believe your only option is to find someone with a modded pin header xbox < 1.6 who will let you use their box to flash your xen blue

And even then, you will then have to battle to get a CD/DVD which can be used to flash it! (Unless you can do an HDD based OS upgrade (think you might be able to if the box is already modded)

Well, good luck smile.gif

So what happens if you don't use os2 in a 1.6?  Does it frag?

I just installed a blue xenium in my 1.6 and it still frags.  I do get a nice red light on the xenium.  I assume it didn't come with OS2 installed on it.

I soldered the LFRAME on the underside of the motherboard to the ground point, as per other peoples instructions.  I didn't hook the blue and black wires (that connect to the chip) up to anything.

I have triple checked my solder points using a multimeter.  I also made sure that none of the pin headers were shorted to one another.  Nothing went wrong with the soldering, and I don't see any splashes or broken traces.

If I unhook the LFRAME wire from the ground, and I remove the chip, the xbox boots into the time and date just fine.  (So at least I didn't screw up the box totally)

Can I buy an LPC programmer and put OS2.0 on my xenium?

Is the fragging because of not having OS2.0, or definitely something else?

Hints for a n00b?

you know what... why dont you try flashing the evox m8 1.6 bios into the first bank and turning on instaboot to that bank but still use the 1.1 OS. but if you can flash a bank i guess you can flash the OS so you guys are still out of luck.

i wonder if my old chameleon/matrix flashing program will work with the xenium  cool.gif still got a few programmers here, maybe ill give it a try. can someone else who is desperate try first??? smile.gif

oh and another thing, does anyone know exactly why OS1.1 does not work with the 1.6? im sure one of the reasons is the video encoder, but does it also have problems with the eeprom, or is the encoder the only thing. because a person could very well, barring the video is the only thing hindering, navigate blindly and use the recovery option to update to OS2.

Thanks churd, let us know.  I am perfectly willing to order an ICE, but I just want to make sure it is the OS problem, not something *else* I did wrong smile.gif

I was looking at the LPC rebuilding guide on v1.6 XBOX for Xenium and SmartXX.
I found a bit of difference from those 2 pictures.

On Xenium guide, Pin 4 MUST be pulled out or MUST NOT be soldered.(Pic of LPC Rebuilding on Bottom of XBOX)

but, on SmartXX guide, all pins are soldered.

Some says if you solder that point, you will either fry your chip or motherboard?!?

Thanks!

BTW, Would someone know who is selling SmartXX v2?
I saw BMMods carries 'New Arrivals' SmartXX, is this v2?

Thanks!

OS 1.1 does not work with 1.6 boards because it does not contain any programming to interact with the Xcalibur and Xyclops chips, which is needed to put video on the screen.

I wonder.  I've read that they've got Ultimate Dash Exploit 2 working on 1.6.  Could you use that once to get the os2 beta file on to the hard drive, and then boot the Xenium in recovery mode?  That might be a way to flash a blue Xenium with OS2 if you only have a 1.6.

It would be awesome, but
I searched for UDE in this forum, and it said "Warning: This expoit does not work on Kernels that prevent the execution of pre-live Dashboards, such as 5713 or higher"

My box has Kernel 5838. Not sure about other v1.6 box though.
So, I guess I can not do it on my box. sad.gif

Link to original post about UDE.

Thanks though!

If you read through this thread: http://forums.xbox-s...ic=245403&st=90

They appear to have figured out how to do UDE2 to 1.6's.

Hey guys...

Got the ICE in today, all I did was pull the blue chip out and throw the ICE in, and it worked!!  Basically, you can't boot into recovery mode or otherwise with the Blue chip and 1.6 (the LED lights up red, but the box tries to boot 3 times and FRAGS).

Cheers!
