Questions About Ftp

I read an old tutorial about ftp using flash fxp. With the evox dashboard, cant you just connect your xbox to the pc and start the transfers without changing your ip adress and stuff on your pc? Won't evox automatically configure your xbox to be able to recieve files from your pc? I will be using the direct connect method. (crossover cables)
