The effectiveness of the install depends, primarily, on the installer.

If you spend time reading and learning - all the guides and metaerials related - you should have very few (or no) problems with your initial install.

Hi;

We just got out stock of Xenium ICE in today and have installed 3 of them today had to use paper trick on all 3 solderless adapters, took them out and used a different solderless adapter, worked fine first time for all 3.

Solderless works great if;
A= You put supplied rivets IN LPC holes for V1.3 through V1.6
B= Use either paper or something under screw hole for adapter
C= Older V1.0 and V1.1 you clean all LPC points carefully and get GOOD contact on solderded LPC points
D= Dont strip the screw when tightening

The solderless adapter is required to be pushed/forced down
to sit on the motherboard and then tighten the screw!
Dont expect it to work properly if u just hold it and tighten the screw!

Also the use of the rivets makes things better!

Only version 1.0 xbox doesnt require the rivets
since the lpc holes are filled with solder!

White Label and Maxtor are three words I don't like to hear together...

I would strongly consider this drive instead.  I'm not really a fan of WD either, but I would take one over a Maxtor anyday.

No guarantee's you'l be able to lock that Maxtor, but the WD will...  smile.gif

My Maxtor 160GB locks, from what I've read all Maxstors lock and my drive i've got is very reliable and 7200rpm 8mb cache no heat probs. Don't get the SE drives from any manufacture oh and my maxstore is also quiet.
