Xecuter 3 Vs Xenium
« Reply #15 on: June 22, 2004, 06:35:00 PM »

xecuter 3 is coming out a lot later. it is going to have a lot more options and features because of development time. even so, xecuter 2 is still very popular considering it is 3rd gen and xenium is 4th.
just my 2 cents

My main reason for choosing to go with the X3 is bioses, there's just not a lot of options out there, I know people will say I could use an evolution x bios or one of the newer ones coming my way, but I've had an Xecuter bios and Xecuter chip from day one of my xbox days and I've never been let down. IMO if it isn't broke why fix it.

You can use the Xecuter bios on an Xenium, it's not exclusive to Xecuter mod chips.

Well aware, Xecuter2 bioses I could totally use on a Xenium, Xecuter3 bioses? They say they're not encrypting them to keep from being used on other chips, but we won't know until the chip arrives along with the first wave of Xecuter3 bioses.

This is a bit of a biased thread poll blink.gif, I mean the X-CHIP is probebly the most cheapest 4th Gen chip, to that guy who said up there. Yer also a good point that X3 aint even out yet, so not really a comparison. Gee some one needs to have a think before they post things like this poll.

Just my 20cents

how can the x-chip even be considered 4th generation currently? from reading the reviews posted it seems to be very thin in the way of features I didn’t even see any eprom/hdd tools or anything like that mentioned. With the months of delays they have had surely they could have got the os to a stage where xenium  was when it was released.
In my opinion from the the review pictures and video’s its very basic looking currently.
The usb flashing does not appeal to me as I am not interested in hauling my box into another room where my pc is to recover it via usb, when the xenium lets me do it via network in the comfort of my lounge.

Its all good and well adding all thes components and stuff and claiming it has a programmable cpld but whether the end user ever gets to use any of this is to be seen so until such time as those components become used they may as well not even be there its just vapour.

As I am sure x3 will also have some type of bfm feature as is planned for the xenium I doubt even the die hard developers will ever need 1mb of flash space, not when the average user has a few hundred meg of space left on a hdd that can be used to run any number of bios’s.

Look at Easy Buy’s track record in the past with delivering products on time and then supporting them when they do finally arrive and tell me what kind of update and other future support you are likely to get?

Might be like the 20 matrix’s I ordered off them and they arrive 2 months after payed for and promised, if I was even going to consider buying this chip it would be thru another reseller as you would have a much higher chance of getting it in a timely manner.

As for the X3 I will reserve my judgment until real production versions are in end users hands and apples can be compared with apples not with lemons. As end user reports contain a much clearer picture than reports from experienced users.

Unless either x3 or x-chip can deliver some standout function that just cannot be done with my current hardware then I will stick with these guys, yeah sure they took far to long to deliver the os update and the PR guy cried wolf saying it was almost ready so many times that he alone almost put me off buying a second xenium for my new v1.6 box as it has all the features i need and it looks like they are going to keep the promise of continued support with updates.

only time will tell if the 2 new chips get to the level xenium has set.

Again I'm repeating myself.

An X2 bios isn't chip dependent, but nobody know for sure if the X3 bioses are or are not chip dependent.

To all the people that said X2 or 3 bios can be used on all chips:

I know that, What I ment was editing them like what xbtool does with other bios, You're not going to be able to edit the stuff to your preference unless you have an X3 (Not sure if this is still true, but was brought up before)

IMHO I think the X3 will out sell the Xenium buy a large margin. It has always out sold everything else and they have long track record of being very good to the scene (Not that Xenium is not). The only thing that keeps them close in the polls is the very late release date. If they came out head to head, I don't think this would even be posted.

In my installations of all chips they always had a low defect rate which appealed to me. The Xeniums can be a pain at times and are not made with the best materials. That's from personal experience and preferance however.

X3 has never let down the scene, I trully can't see why this will be any differant. Thier products are always manufactured better, install nicer and have all the features everyone else has and more. They are always first to find a problem and fix it.

To me they are reliable and have proved it over and over again. My money is on X3 and in fact (LOL) is...

Thank you... please vote for me in November.
