Xenium Solderless Install Probelm
« on: June 17, 2004, 04:05:00 PM »

Ok,

I am trying to install a Xenium with solderless adapter to what I think is a 1.4 xbox (it was made late last year) and I think its in there correctly. The adapter is in the LPC holes and the gold wire is firmly in the d0 point. But whenever it boots it always goes to teh MS dash. No FRAG'ing, no error code. Just goes to the xbox dash. Is there something im missing??

Thanks

well thats the thing. I spent a good hour or two on the d0 and thought I got it in there perfectly. Would soldering it in help?? And will the Xenium OS just pop up when the chip is installed correctly?? Also is there a on/off switch on the chip itself id have to turn on (like the old matrix's)??

D0 hook may have a cold solder joint at the connection where the wire meets the hook. At the adapter end that is.

Did you check that?

It means that the soldering on the adapter connecting the d0 wire might be a bit lose. It also could have a tiny crack that you cant actually see.

The main thing with D0 is when it is diconnected xbox automatically boots to Original Bioas and Original Dashboard.

To make absolut sure it is connected would be to heat it a bit with soldering iron.
Well I know you might not want to solder though but that is what it means.

Still even that averything refers to D0 problem there have been cases that problem has still been on the LPC pont connections, and giving same symtoms as you are having. Therefore my trouble shoot page should cover most possible causes.

Hi;

Did you install the little brass rivets into the LPC holes on your MB, as they will also give a better connection, also try the paper trick under the screw to try to level out the seating of the adapter!

Good Luck

Thanks

I need help also with a friends box, we have the same chip with solderless adapter in a v1.5 and when I first installed it and turned on the machine, mistakenly there was a halo disc in the drive and the screen read something like "flashing...done" (LED on chip was blue).  On booting again it would stay on the xenium screen, white button doing nothing (LED on chip stays red).    Now it just boots to msdash and no xenium screen at all?  Is this a solderless/d0 problem or did it somehow flash the chip bios with something off of the Halo disc????

Thanks in advance (I'm reseating the chip now to see if that helps)
