The wire loom as people are calling it or better term should be harness or dongle, only just started shipping about 2-3 weeks back with new purchases, fo those that did not get one, you dont need it. it was just a way to make the chip easier to repace if you do a pinheader install. this way, the chip is not perminatly hardwiered to the xbox. it also ment that you dont have to buy a whole roll of wire just to get 4 inches for the D0 wire. techincally, it comes with the D0 wire now. fianlly a complete kit for pinheaderinstall.

I have purchaced about 6 xeniums now, only the last 2 came came with the new dongle.

I have yet to solder down the black wire. i have only used the blue wire to D0. now if only it was long enough to use the Alt. D0 on the bottom.

That dont make any sence dry.gif
It is a dongle with 2 wires not one.
What is the other one for?
D0 need only one wire.

huh.gif   You'd think they'd mention how to use it, but I guess their distributor in bangladesh doesn't keep in contact with them.   laugh.gif

Actually I have mine soldered to the underside D0. If you thread it thru one of the open LPC holes it will reach.  It's a tight fit and very little play on the wires but it's enough to disconnect from the chip if need be.

It might even make for an easier topside D0 solder install because it fits into the D0 hole.

Maybe they made the wire a little longer now. mine was about 3mm too short for the Underside Alt. D0. Yes i perfer to go through the LPC holes too.

No bit deal, I like to use the Alt D0 simply because it is harder to a "accidently" break it if your like me and always have your xbox apart.

Why bother with the D0 optional header?  Just sodder the D0 to the Pinheader.  Or are we speaking of a more secure quazi-soderless install?

i got my xenium when they first came out and all it came with was the chip and pin header, now they are shipping them with these wires(which could be quite useful if X3 has the same port).  i was just wondering to anyone that got one recently was it flashed with os1.1?  cause this os2.0 thing is pretty much useless if people will need to flash the chip themselves as i had lots of problems getting it to do it from disk and wound up doing it from hdd after ftp was set up.

Missing pin headers, wires, or whatnot isn't impossbile.  I've seen it happen with every brand chip occasionally.

No Pin header?  I seriously doubt it.  I have bought quite a few and I always receive units w/ pin header.

Lol, if you can see it so well why don't you come over and show me, would have made my first install a lot easier.

Actually, I found quick soldering was a lot easier than doing it with pinheaders but honest to god there were no pinheaders with either of those chips that just arrived today.

EDIT: Heres a picture of the anti-static bag in front of a light, it IS unopened.

Reaches just fine for me.  But I don't understand the point of this thread, if you look at the blue wire you can clearly see a trace going to the solder pad that says d0 right next to the connector very clearly and the other wire is black so it is obviously ground, the last xenium I got had this connector with it and I didn't give it a second thought, they probably didn't figure they needed to update the installation manuals for this since it's optional anyway and not very hard to figure out.
