Well, I checked the continuity on the wire when connected to the chip.  I put the probes on the d0 point on the chip, which is right behind the removable d0 port, and the other probe on the tip of one of the wires and I had a short, so then I had to try and figure on why two wires.  All I came up with was to perhaps solder the wires on multiple d0 points, on the top and bottom.  Dunno for sure, though.

When i installed the Xenium i used the 2 wire piece like you mentioned. The BLUE wire i soldered to the D0 point and the black one i soldered to the ground where the screw is. Hope that helps. Xenium worked fine.

Yes but the second wire is soposed to be optional ground therefore it is not necessary needed if doing regular insstall. Well that is the impression I got from the info here.

Or just heard that xbox 1.5 need couple of extra wires. Thathas one faulty lpc port. Maybe the faulty lpc port is the ground port and that is when the extra wire (optional ground) is needed. Just a thought?

QUOTE (Sacrilego @ May 22 2004, 02:29 AM)
I guess it's (or was) to manually select to boot from tsop or from lpc using an external switch.

No, the wire loom doesn't directly connect the D0 and Ground.  It simply provides an alternative way to connect the D0 and Ground points.

This wire loom is not actually intended for v1.5 boxer, either.  OzXodus originally intended to release a v1.5 wire loom (you can see the solder points for the connector on the Xenium PCB), but they decided not to do this because the v1.5 Xboxes are so rare.

For most people, soldering the D0 wire will be sufficient.  For some people, using the Ground wire on the wire loom may provide a more reliable Ground connection, as the Ground pin on the LPC port often gives newbies problems.

So I am not saying you are wrong just that I dont understand. smile.gif
Just bear with me.

You are talking of Wire looms, what do you mean with that.
Is not that word only a cable organizer like following pic.
http://www.xoxide.co...uewireloom.html

There has been talk earlier about extra 2 wire thing that sometimes comes with xenium.
We have figure it to be the optional 3.3v and ground for 1.5 boxes.
A. Now that I been writing this it aviously sounds that the loom thing in this case is just a wire loom witch have two wires inside?

B. Could somebody provide a pic of it (the one that comes with xenium)?

C. You stated that that is not for the 1.5, so next question is what is it for then?

This is a bit confusing to me.

Other stupid question is:
D. What is Xenium PCB?

The printed circuit board.

When I got my Xenium a few months back, all it came with was the chip itself and the pin header. I didn't get any extra wires with mine.

I compared with all the pics to make sure it was authentic and it is. So I guess my question is did some of these chips get released without the all the parts? I know things happen and such, I am not complaining since my chip works fine all the same. But could someone snap a pic of the wire loom so that I can see what I missed out on?     jester.gif   I searched all over the OzXodus web site for the "Whats in the package" pics like the old Xodus team had with the Matrix chips.

Either way it is a great chip that suits my needs.

No, that's not the same thing. The D0 wire loom is simply 2 wires with a small plug connector on one end. This connector plugs into the small socket on the Xenium.

QUOTE
It's just a different way of connecting the D0 point to the chip. The idea is so that you don't have to solder the D0 wire to the chip, which makes it very easy to unplug the chip without having to de-solder anything.

One last question (maybe):
Why two wires if it is only optional d0?

Well you stated it is not for 1.5 box?

If the 1.5 requires optional d0 and 3.3v wire then would not this ashieve that?

I thought the loop had two wires other with d0 other for something else?

Well hope somebody would provide a picture of the wire loom, so my slow brain could understand the concept of the wire loom.  rolleyes.gif
