BTW - I think the springed pins are too hard and leaver the end up, rather than the connecter bending. I think they need to be softer springs.

Yes you are right. I have forgot to correct that part of the info.
Thanks for reminding me. smile.gif

This thread should be cleaned and pinned.
It seems to be a very common request.

Good work Marksu.

You need t flash a bios to the chip and install a dashboard.
The service erro should have a number, what is it?

Also did you unlock your hard drive?

did not flash bios nor install dashboard.. in over my head.. what is the most common config?  can you point me to a comprehensive guide to my different options?  id like to run xbmc at some point.  also, if i back up my games to pc hdd, can i run on the modded xbox?

the service screen did not have a number.  where would it be.  the front light on xbox, not xenium led, was flashing red and green.  thanks already for your help, paul

maybe im not explaining this correctly.

i get the xenium os v2.0 menu on boot.  the xenium led goes from red to green to out.  i tsop'd the retail dash, and when i launch it, i get a service screen with multiple languages and no number in the top left.  i also get a FRAG.

here is my question, why cant i boot to the original xbox dash?  i also tried bypassing the mod chip (eject boots to xenium, power boots regular) and i still get the FRAG.  am i going to waste my time flashing the bios just to have it not work?  i need to know if i have the xenium installed correctly.  and if not, what exactly is wrong.

sounds installed ok.
you cant tsop a dash. you flas the tsop with a cracked Bios.
The only reason fo doing that is to rmove your chip and still play backups and run different dashes.

soundslike you messed up the MS dash.
Find slayers and restore it.

I have had to do it a couple of times for the same reason.

When you flashed your tsop did you change the fonts?

well, I think the paper trick has improved things, but I'm still stuck.

I get the red led on the chip now... but only if I push down on it a certain way.  I'm still booting to the MS dash.

Any ideas?

1. When chip is booting to MS dash problem lies usuallu under the d0.

Try cleaning the d0 point and wire with alcohol.

Make sure you dont have cold solder joint between the adapter and the wire.

2. Cause you need to press down the chip for it to get power it seem it also has bad lpc connections.  Try also cleaning the adapter pins, lpc hole with alcohol. Add also the rivets on the lpc hole. I see you allready did the paper trick.

Try those

Cold solder means it has a crack all away around the solder so it doesn't make a connection.

Hi Scene;

I hate to post on this topic again, but just wanna state.

I do 95% of our installs with a solderless adapter, I have never and I mean never had an issue with the old adapters, hopefully people know which ones I mean as to not flame on Ozxodus.

The pogo pin spring pressure is way too strong on the new blue adapters, you do not need that much pressure for an adapter.

Needing paper yes a fix but should not need to be done, works, YES, but in my mind should not need to use paper for a $19.00 adapter!!

We know its hard to order just an adapter but its worth the time and less stress on a first time installer having no headaches.

There is a new adapter from said mentioned place from previous statement that we are using and it is AWESOME same soft spring pressure but nice brass ring for screw hole and nice notch for V1.5 and V1.6 systems for clearance!!

Have used over 100 solderless adapters and never had an issue with older adapters or newer ones but we have had same similar incidents with the blue adapters and just cant justify playing with them for an hour to fix an issue that should not happen!!

Just our 2 cents

hot damn... if I dont get this thing going soon, I may order one from ya.  How much?  Didn't see "just an adapter" on yer site.

How soon can you ship it, and will it work on a 1.0?

(I've had it... I'm about to give up...)

yeah, and after 20+ mistakes with solderless, I don't see how soldering a mistake to the board would be an improvment.
