What color should the led be on a successfully installed Xenium?

I turned on the box,  the eject button fragged,  then the xenium led turned from red to blue and the OS screen came up.   I turned it off.

I turned it back on and now it stays at the xenium splash screen and a solid red led.  Is this right?  I havent got to installing a BIOS yet.  Too tired tonight.  But wanted to know if my installation was successful.

Sounds right. If it doesn't go to the controller screen then you need to make sure only one MS brand controller is attached to the Xbox.

Not sure what that means,  wish there was another way to flash this chip.  I spent 3 hours or so trying different speeds,  different size dummy files.  No luck.  And the no solder adapter sux majorly on V1.0 box.  Guess I will have to get me a better dvd drive. dry.gif

Well I have had it with this shit.  Cant; get the damn box to read the effin cd.

I've tried, maxell,  Imation, and now sony cdrw's.  I even bought a brand new cd burner cuz the other was iffy and it wasnt getting full options in Nero.  I followed the damn tutorial and this shit wont go.

I am gonna sell this chip and get a xbit,  at least I can flash through the USB with that one.  Having one flash option sux. dry.gif

Well I guess persitance overcomes resistance.  It only took about 15 tries but I finally got it.

I had to load up the CDRW till it was as full as it could get.  And I loaded all kinds of dummy files,   even exe's and crap, lol,   it finally took it and flash the BIOS.

Now I have to contend with the OS upgrade and loading a dashboard.  YAY! dry.gif

The OS upgrade should be a walk in the park now that you are done with the bios install. You have two options.

1) You could use Slayers Autoinstaller and load EvoX dash next. Then you can FTP the OS 1.1 update to the Xbox and flash it from the hard drive.

2) Download the ISO version of the update, burn it as a disk image (it already has padding files built in) and try updating from CD.

I'd recommend #1, since you eventually have to install a dash anyway, just do it first, then you can FTP to the box and not fool with CDs any more.

Cap, and Emperor,  Thanks for all you help.   wink.gif   I will be giving the Slayers a try tonight when I get home from work.  I am on the Bit Torrent now. WOW, what a whole new world I was just introduced too.  XS has opened up some new doors for me recently and I am loving it.

I used to have a girlfriend. laugh.gif

EDIT: One question I do have,  its when I run the slayers,  do I select the Xecuter BIOS or do I boot with the orginal?

Cuz when I boot with the Xecuter now,  its just keep rebooting,  assuming its from lack of dashboard.

OK,, I hope it works,  cuz when it boots in the XOS now,  I select the Xecuter Bios,  it turns off,  the turns back on and goes back into the XOS.  Is that what its supposed to do?

Tommy, you didn't complete the BIOS flash process. Put your BIOS disk back in the drive, go through the XOS bios configuration menu, select bank 1, select D:\BIOS.BIN, when it says "Ok, file loaded from CD" go back to the menu and select Program Flash. After it completes the flashing process, you can reboot the console. When you boot the Xecuter2 BIOS, it should then load the MS dashboard (since no other dash is installed yet).  At this point, you can put the Slayers disk in and reboot the console. Xecuter should now be able to load the disk.

Cap, gotta thank ya for catching that one!  damn,  I was just about to lose it.  I was pretty happy to see that Xecuter logo instead of the M$ one! laugh.gif

But alas,,  the damn thompson strikes again.  it wont read the slayers,  then I made a slayers with some more dummy files, (i know slayers already has some)  but still no worky.

So I am trying a couple different burning techniques.  I hope one of them works and then I can get the FTP up and running.  I pretty excited to get this thing working.  I just hope the thompson will cooperate at least one more time. huh.gif

Thanks again Cap! beerchug.gif
