I've got some tips on the D0 point in a few posts in the Newbie section. Give a ssearch if you like. It's pretty simple.

apply flux to where you want the solder to go.  then, don't heat the solder with your iron, heat your wire/connections and apply the solder to it.

if you are doing a pin-header install, a good tip is to shorten the length of the pins sticking through the LPC holes.  It allows for a better connection.

I have yet to see one great, all encompassing, guide to soldering.  you'll have to read a bunch of them to get what you need.
