Both; the stuff listed in the tutorial is for the PC.  The stuff in the ftp server is for Xbox and PC.

You can do so many things with a modded xbox man, you can do things like: run linux, run windows, run emulators for pretty much every console, use trainers for your games, play homebrew apps and games such as xbox media center, browse the internet, play your dvd's without the dvd dongle, and upgrade your hardrive and play games off of it.

Either get Gentoox Linux or go to <xbins ftp>/XBOX/apps/web broswers/linksboks/linksboks-0.91.rar

Put default.xbe in E:/apps or F:/apps and launch it from your dashboard of choice.

You will be able to use your keyboard and mouse for apps that support it.

XeniumOS v1.1 has a few bugfixes and adds instantboot™ which allows you to go to the XeniumOS by turning the xbox on with the eject button and go to the default bios by pressing the power button.

You don't need to upgrade the XeniumOS, but it's always a good idea to upgrade to newer bios files.
