I've had this same problem before. Do you have the PIN HEADER that came with the chip? Pull out one of those pins. Clip 1/16 inch off. Place that pin in the chip and then place the chip on the mounted adapter. Check to see that you can push it down pretty much all the way for a solid fit. If not keep trimming a tiny bit at a time. If you cut it too short you won't be able to get it back out of the chip!

This worked GREAT for me. No problems at all. Although it was only 1 pin, so the rest held everything in place. It might not work if you have a few broke off.

Heh, I soldered my solderless adapter.
Little pins werent making full contact with the lpc holes. =/
