Xenium Os 1.1 Not Loading...
« on: February 26, 2004, 03:48:00 PM »

At first I thought the Xenium OS was screwed up until I just had to wait a little bit for it to load (I pressed the white button and about 10 seconds later it loads.. is that the boot timeout? Because thats what its set to). Anyways, sometimes when I try to load the Xenium OS.. it will load the default bios and I am pressing the Eject Button. ( i am using a 1mb x2 4981.06). It will skip the whole Xenium process.  Like 1 out of 10 times it loads the OS. And is the recovery switch supposed to have the white mark showing or not showing ( I want to place it in regular mode, NOT the safe recovery mode). Thanks in all!

Sounds like you need to reinstall the 1.1 OS... see notes in here:

QUOTE
Turn the x-box off flip the recovery mode switch on the modchip and then reboot the xbox and insert the cdrw you made into the drive or just leave it in before you turn off

EDIT the light on the chip should remain green once it is done (as far as I can remember) mine was red while it was flashing

Also note that once you switch off you need to flip the switch back if the white on the PCB is showing it's in recovery mode

What about the whole boot timeout?

The menu works as soon as you hit a button

Edit if you hit no buttons it takes as long as your timeout is set to

Mine is set to 10sec.. that means it will take longer if I press the white button to get into the OS right? I want it to load instantly.. so I set it to 0?

Yea i figured it out now.. I think reupdating the OS worked for me. I guess teh first time i updated it didnt do something right. ANyways I use regular Xbox controllers (MS) sometimes S and non S and they have LEDs in the breakaway plug.. i doubt that matters!

Now its not loading at all... I was installing a HDD Activity LED and when I turned on my Xbox, it fragged. I took of the HDD Activity LED and it worked fine to loading the X2 BIOS but I cannot get into the OS when I press the eject button. This has happened to me earlier but it would load once in a while. Should I just burn the recovery.bin to a CD (I have a Samsung 616T)?

Even when I flip the recovery switch it still wont get into the OS. Do I flip the switch when the Xbox is on or off. I flipped it when it was off so the white was showing. Right now the white isn't showing so that means its in regular mode. When the white is showing its in recovery mode?

The chip is NOT dead because the LEDs still come on. It is blue because thats my default BIOS color LED and when RIGHT when I turn on the Xbox like it used to be!

When the white is showing it's in recovery mode
Turn the xbox off when your flipping it (in either direction)

Man sounds like your soldering iron is mutilating your xbox....

I put in the stock Xbox hard drive and it seems to be working fine, and now hopefully once this reupdate is over.. I will put my Maxtor back in and see how it works!  wink.gif

It seems as if though the Xenium doesn't like my Maxtor sad.gif

It works perfectly fine with the original Western Digital. This is a bug that HAS to be fixed!  wink.gif

Argh your posting the same problems in 2 places

YOUR PROBLEM IS YOUR FANCY DODADS ARE LIMITING THE POWER SUPPLY

All the LED's etc your fitting that is...

If you stepped up to a 7200 RPM drive from a 5400 RPM (with more platters/driveheads - I'm guessing) wouldn't you need more power  blink.gif  blink.gif  blink.gif

No I had the HDD LED but it stopped working so then I tried it again and it didnt work at all. I guess I will do some rewiring and see how it goes. But I don't think power is the issue at all!  wink.gif

oblox you have been so much help to me. Thanks A BUNCH!
