not properly sized means that the chip sees bios on cd but can't load it or it simply means that the bios isn't right size. make sure you have right size bios in right size bank and you should be fine. otherwise burn disk again or download new bios.

You folks that are having BIOS size errors ... look at the file size of the .BIN file.

If it is 131.072 bytes, it is a 128k binary, and needs a 256k bank.
If it is 262,144 bytes, it is a 256k binary, and needs a 256k bank.
If it is 393,216 bytes, it is a 384k binary, and needs a 512k bank.
If it is 524,288 bytes, it is a 512k binary, and needs a 512k bank.
If it is between 524,288 and 1,048,576 bytes, it needs a 1M bank.

In your Xenium OS, make sure you have your bank arrangement set up to properly hold your BIOS.

Example: Xenium defaults to 4 banks of 256k. If you are trying to install the Xecuter BIOS with the FTP server, you need a 512k bank, so you will have to reconfigure the bank modes to give you 2x256 + 1x512. You would then flash your 512k BIOS to bank 3.  Make sure your default BIOS is then pointing to either Original BIOS or Bank 3. If not, you will get a frag on reboot, because the box is trying to load a BIOS from a different bank (eg. Bank 1), which is blank.

i have tried evox m7 and xecuter bios and neither work. the size is 256k but xenium says that the bios is not properly sized.

also when i try and boot the original bios it loads xenium 3 or 4 times and then frag.

someone please help me.

Trust me, the banks are the right size, the BIOS is the right size... everything is right, 'cept the dumb chip. Which xecuter bios has the FTP? Exact filename please, there is so much crap on xbins its not funny.

I flashed mine with an X2 4981.67 bios, modified with XBTool to remove the animation + trademark, changed the fan speed to 100%, and changed the X Logo's colours. I burnt it to a Sony CD-RW 10X cd (without a dummy file). My Samsung drive read it perfectly, and the Xenium chip read the bios file.

If it doesn't work off of a CD, boot into a dash and copy the bios file to your hard disk and try flashing from there.

I used Memorex CD-RW with the EvoX M7 eject fix BIOS. I also installed X2 4981.

I have a v1.1 box with Samsung drive.

For those of you with a size error, might I suggest your BIN file might be corrupted? Try a file from a different source...

Or maybe get XBTool and see if it can read it and/or repack it?

i have tried read the evox for dummies tut but for some reason i can't download any pdf files.

Better use a cd-rw even with samsung dvds!
And also include some large dummy files!
I found by including two dummy files of size 100mb
and named after aaaa.bin and zzzz.bin always works
(at least for me and my thomson)
Btw i am using verbatim cd-rws
