ha... last night, i give booting up the box one more shot. the red LED lights up, then goes to blue...xenium does not load, however. turn off the xbox, and in frustration and figuring i have to re-solder today, i give the xbox a non-abusive, loving tap in the side....and all boots up correctly!

what i have learned: even the xbox will need tough love and to be put back in its place.

I would almost bet money that it's a cold joint in the LPC area.

I had sorta the samething happen but mine TOTALLY stopped working. In the first half dozen I ordered, one of them worked for about 3 days then stopped. I smelled something burning about the 3rd day however I didnt see anything wrong with the chip but it smells like it got REALLY hot.

Well I thought something came loose but I couldnt find a thing wrong so I unsoldered the d0 point from the modchip side, not the motherboard side and put in a new Xenium and it started to work again. Then I put the old one back in and it stopped working again.

No clue why. I guess it was just faulty.
