Brand new here too, though i do know the only addition wiring needed is if you are trying a soilderless adapter. I have a v 1.5 and did the quick soilder without a sweat, check your soilder points again.

How is soldering directly to the board any different then using the pin or solderless install method???  Why would you not need the +3.3v and GND?  You're still making all the same connections...

Hopefully I'm making sense here. Agreed - doesn't matter what install method you use, if you have a v1.5 box you need the 2 extra wires.
