FAKES / SCAMS

Well.. it was only a matter of time.

First Xecuter got nailed by some clowns wanting to rip them off.. now some other clowns are apparently attempting to do the same to OzXodus.

The PS2 scene has always had cloners/scammers.. and it looks like this greed is now coming over to our side of the tracks.  Shame.

OzXodus claims Neil from www.evolutionmods.com, and David France from www.dartimpex.com are the first to start this practice. (as Far as Xenium Chips are concerned)

Feedback from this should be interesting.. to say the least.

the main thing i have to say is HAHA
seriously though scammers/pirates/ect suck, i really hate it, but to me it almost seems as though maybe they have posted this only as a scapegoat for a bad product.  they have told about and released a new product with in a few weeks of one another, all after joining up with a new development team a few weeks before (atleast that they told of, i don't know for sure how long the 2 teams have been together)
to me it seems like maybe they are afraid that people will start having problems with there chips and want to post this before they actually start reciving tons of complaints
i'm not saying that this is in fact the case, i want to clarify now that my mind works differently than anyone else i know, i take anything and think about it until it makes me laugh, which this post did.  i am not saying that i don't like the ozxodus team, or that i hope they fail or anything else.  i'm just posting what came to mind

People said the same thing when those four shops sold Fake Xecuter chips.

Original Threads: Uber's Announcement and Feedback

People came out of the woodwork accusing them of trying to bury a manufacturing flaw.  It was unfounded.

I'm hoping that other than the bitchfest this'll start.. we won't see more of these shops doing this.

The EvolutionMods rep has been banned from these forums for a week.  You can't say we didn't start the crackdown early enough.  laugh.gif

And no, they're not scapegoats.  These shops are selling chips (including shipping) at less than cost.  I can't think of any ways to justify that as a legitimate conspiracy theory.  What, OzXodus has a bunch of bad chips, so they sell them to EvolutionMods at a discount, then when EvolutionMods sells them for a super low price they call foul???  It would take a lot of beers for me to believe that.

The first very worrying issue noted with the Xenium is the choice of chip. . This device is cheap and reliable BUT it is also very very inexpensive to have its code extracted. Past history already shows that within a very short of release (and if not before) that the cloners will be out in force. This will dilute th market and lead to confusuion with all over what is a genuine device. As all clones suffer from the poorly made and unreliable syndrome . Is this really in eeryones and the scenes best interest?

the site has to look professional or i won't even THINK about buying from it!

I've been in the business for a while and am starting to think that Sir David France should retire very soon cause I have horror stories on his case.

Reproducing a good, founctionnal product is nothing new. (why reinvent the wheel)
But scaming as the real thing is something else.

Only defect ratios will tell...in the near futur.

I kind of agree with Grayrock and mjar81.  Although the professionalism of a website does not always stand for the quality of a product a company wishes to promote, it might be a good idea to buy such products from sources that you know and trust.

On a lighter note, the Xenium has truly lived up to its billing as a revolutionary product. This must be some new record for how quickly a chip has made enough impact and noise to be copied, and honestly we take it as a compliment.

haha what a crock of shit, trying to make your self look good in a bad situation.... seems to always bee the position of the xodus team..

Xeero,

what was that other guy that was trying to peddle the ULTRA cheap Xeniums???  For like 29 bux.  DO you remember me questioning him?  You actually moved the thread to the Xenium forum for us to see.  I believe his use name was "watcher" ????  I Know you confirmed it as a scam and was just wondering if he too was banned and has a website that we should watch out for?  muhaha.gif

Yes thats the wonderful and intellectually challenged individual known as Neil Brown aka Smartek aka Evolutionmods.

The problem you have is that he isnt a non sending scam merchant. Hes a poor made and unreliable clone selling scammer.

We have it on good authority that fake chips are currently being promised for sale through these particular dealers and manufacturers who have lost the battle to innovate and therefore resort to working on this other stuff ;-).

I noticed this rather strange attempt at inferring that other groups, namely Xecuter (Xecuter posted they were working on I quote "Other Stuff") may be behind Team Ozxodus now all too apparant massive clone problem so I asked Team Xecuter what their opinion was on the matter.

'The "other stuff" we mention is a highly advanced kernel more powerful than their linux freind has developed. (yes the so called freind who has shown in the past he has nothing better to do than to flame, attack those that make money from mods, attempt to hijack credit and pour scorn on others work). Also we are making improvements to the USB bus and a newly designed external module. Also we find it amusing how they mention "lost battles" There is no lost battle (or any kind of battle) as our innovation in X3 started last year, (Xantium and other IRC figures knew of the X3 features last Autumn - you also had a glimpse of where we were going with the 4978 bios -  embedding a completely functional xbe) - whereas theirs started when this mod was given to them pretty much finished, and now as recent events coming from Smartxxx show and prove, a very very rushed released in an attempt to cash grab. X3 is and as the near future will prove a completely different vehicle which we would hope to be more a 'final solution' than to claim any kind of new revolutionary step.

We also spoke to them in a private conversation before Xmas 2003 and advised them not to use their 'revolutionary' outdated easily cracked Xilinix device. It is quite simple to convert Xilinx to a more secure device and the cost of the mod increases by around $2, and we were sure that they could swallow this in their profits (cost of mod is $4 maximum - sales is $33 for 1000), this would have protected their investment - because lets be honest they are not here to improve the scene as all they produce is mods - they are here to make money, so thats exactley what it is, an investment (and there is nothing wrong with this - we do the same but also have our software team who have contributed much to the scene as you know). We also informed them of the people who would clone the device immediately and of the ultra low cost ($2000) it would take for them to achieve their indistinguisable clones. It really is a shame for the whole scene and Team Ozxodus in particular that they have let their recent spate of childish arrogance cloud their commercial business common sense on this matter. We imagined they would have learned from their mistakes having being involved with Easybuy2k.

They are also fully aware Team Xecuter has no need to produce 'fakes' of any other modchip developers work. Why copy when the whole Xbox scene is more than aware that our range of modchips past and present has set the benchmarks to which all others now try to claim to be superior to?'

We just hope that there was no inferrance in what they say. If there is why don't they just come out and say it rather than make silly posts riddled with their usual run of innuendo.'
