Use the pin header. It comes with the chip. I am in firm opposition to the Quick-Solder.

I must have gone over my work 5 times and it still boots to default BIOS. Now I have to start all over. Its hard to make the solder flow the right direction, especially if you cant see the LPC points. I modded a PSone and a GBA but this is a hard job!

You have to do the D0 point no matter what path you choose.

I 3rd the pin header method, it takes only 5 mins to complete and it is removeable.

pin header all the way!

The quick solder method is not hard only thing is "removal time" thats gonna be pretty hard if you dont have the right tools to desolder. A wire harness would have been the perfect solution to quick solder.

Take the D0 wire and touch it against one of the mounting screws for the Mobo. If you get the XBOX to boot off the chip rather than the TSOP, then your issue lies with Pin2 of the LPC (ground pin).

I have done a couple of quick solder and on one XBOX - it would constantly boot from TSOP. I unsoldered the D0 from the chip and touched it against the grounding screw and booted up - it booted off the chip. But when I connected the D0 back to the D0 solder pad on the chip - booted the MS bios from TSOP.

Pin2 had a bad solder joint (Pin 2 is also the one that appears half filled with solder in v1.0 Mobo's).

To rectify this - I soldered a short (2") wire from the Pin2 Pad on the chip to the grounding screw and all worked fine after that.
