After spending about 5 minutes to install it, and another 5 minutes flashing the bioses I must say this thing is by far the best chip I have ever dealt with. I have installed just about every chip that is and was made into boxes and this one takes the cake on eas of use.

I think the best part is the no hassle flashing. In the few minutes it took me to setup the bioses and other settings I can now turn the box on while pressing; Y boots Evox, X boots UnleashX, B Boots Avalaunch, and A boots Linux.

Only one bad thing, and its a VERY unpleasant thing. As already stated it will only boot with an original MS controller. This is totally un acceptable to me since I refuse to use wired controllers. I have found a temporary fix though. I keep a MS controller plugged into port 4 while I keep my wireless plugged into port 1 for normal use. As I said though, this is a really big issue that needs to be addressed with a future software fix to make this chip the absolutely best must have chip.

Yup, very stupid mistake on their part, but something I'm sure will be patched soon.

In the living room, I have an xbox setup with a DVD remote and a logitech Wireless.  When I first installed the Xenium, I thought it was broken because it wouldn't boot without the controller plugged in.

Definitely annoying.

BTW, I am now going on record as saying that I don't miss the P/E wires anymore!  Using the controller offers alot more flexibility and it's just as easy to use.

I have mine setup to autoboot into bank1 with a 0 second delay (Which adds maybe 2 or 3 seconds to the boot time at most.) To disable the modchip when I hold down the A button on the controller, and to boot various other banks with other buttons.  It's quick and easy.

I Did hook up the E wire to the modchip just to see what it does, but it really isn't necessary at all.  Using the E connection, when you boot with Eject button you boot into Safe Recovery Mode.  Is there any benefit to using this method as opposed to simply going into the menu and choosing Safe Recovery?

Either way, I am thrilled with the chip!

I just installed the chip last night, and I was suprised I only needed to solder D0.  I left the kynar in my unit just incase though.

Installation was a breeze cause I already had the pinheader soldered and the other solder points.  The functionality is pretty sweet. I played around with the menus for awhile before I read the instructions.  I was curious about how to turn the chip off. I found a thread that says to boot the original bios which will do that for me.  I guess I need to get used to the added delay with the splash screen.  I would like to figure out how to change that in the future; like add a picture that I enjoy looking at.  Who knows maybe there will be a skins site just for this chip.

I previously used a Chameleon, I still like it, but I enjoy the new functionalities of the menu interface as well as using your game pad to control booting options.  A chip like this will make mods easier to anyone with a basic mechanical skill set.

Negatives:  Longer boot time and frozen screen if controller is not plugged in. Price, ouch! $50. $38 if you buy in bulk and resell.

Positives: Control pad booting options. HDD flash.  Ability to boot Gentoox with all banks flash with bioses other than Cromwell. It appears this chip is designed for future upgrades, see all the ports on the chip itself?  I am sure I will appreciate this chip much more as developers find new things to code for the box and the chip to operate it.

Good job!!

Hi:
My first post, woohooo, bought xenium chips installed mine solderless last night, worked flawlessly, just gotta figure out all the menu options to set up on controller.
I should have some solderless arms in my hands this week if anyone is interested.
Solderless works great in case anyone is wondering!
Have a great weekend!!

Hard as hell to install, but worked greated in the end

never done any soldering before (well only once a long time ago and nowhere near as small holes as on the mobo), but I got it working

I thought! got black screen and frag in the start, but it appeared the problem was that I was using the advanced scart cable instead of the standard one, so technically I didn't do anything wrong with the installation.

EvoX is running fine, x2 4981 is great. and I have some problems getting xbmp to run smoothly

Xenium works great.  I already had the pin header from a previous mod, and D0 was already in place, so it was a 30 second job to install it.  Flashed my Bioses and everything's groovy.  Now looking forward to XOS updates to allow skinning etc etc.

Total noob,
first mod,
quicksolder install,
had a hard time with d0 (now THERE'S something new),
the rest of it can be done by an 80 year old with Parkinsons.
I'm lovin' it.
