E Solder Point In Pictures
« on: January 19, 2004, 04:39:00 AM »

I see that all the shots of the Xenium show an E solder point on the chip. After searching this forum and looking through all the manuals I can not find any mention of it's function.
Is it like the E point on the Chameleon and allows you to disable the Mod by holding eject at boot time? Or is it for something else?

Thank you for the reply.  I was hoping that it would control enable/disable like on the chameleon.    Looks like I'll not be going with a Xenium.  I'll stick with my Chameleon or update to a X3 when they release.  That is unless OzXodus changes the Xenium in the mean time to have Eject control for the chip.  Really. How often would someone need the emergency recovery mode that it would need to be tied to the eject button.  Maybe once a year. If that. Unless they were worse than a N(oYo)B.  However I use the Eject mod disable function of my chameleon every day.
I know the response will be that you can preselect the default bios or set a hot key for the original M$ bios, but lets compare the process.

Chameleon.  Hold Eject for 3 sec.  Tray opens while still holding button. No time added. Insert disc. Close tray. Game is loaded by the time you get to the sofa.

Xenium.  Press power. Wait for supposed 0 Sec. boot. Press hot key.  Wait for flubber to come up. Press eject. Insert disc. Close tray.   ZZZZZZzzzzzzz  Fell asleep waiting for the process to end.

Seeing that the X3 is not available yet. Looks like OzXodus has till then to win me over.

Would also be nice to see functions like XBTOOL in the XeniumOS as well seeing that NghtShd may be calling it quits when the X3 bioses start coming out.
