I Got A Question Really Quick...
« on: January 16, 2004, 05:58:00 PM »

Ok so ive been reading up on this chip and it looks mighty fine but this OS is a bit odd.

Lets say I select to have 2x512k banks of flash memory. I flash one with (which would be better, EvoX M7? 4979? 4980/81?) one of these leaving the other blank for now. Then I set the default booting bios to the one I flashed it with. Either way I will program A button to flashed hacked bios, and B button to original tsop bios/disable chip so that I can play on XBL. With the default booting bios as the hacked bios can I just hold down the B button during boot sequence so I can easily play XBL w/o having to go into the OS and select it. Also how can I go into the OS with a default boot bios?

You got it right exactly.  Most people will program the Xenium to default to automatically load a hacked BIOS, and then pushing a button would change what happens at boot.

The A button could boot the second bank (In a 2x512k setup), the X button could disable the modchip, and the Y button could load the XeniumOS.  (These exact button combinations may not be the same as what is configurable in XeniumOS, but it will be something similar to this.)

As for the best BIOS, that's a personal choice.  I'm partial to X2 BIOSs because of the built in In Game Reset.  4281 will be the best choice of thr X2 BIOSs, especially if you plan to use Xbox Live.  Some people swear that the EVOX BIOSs are more stable but I have yet to experience any instability with X2 BIOSs and I've installed them on multiple boxes.
