If the delay could really be lowered to 0 seconds, how would you ever get back into the XeniumOS again?  wink.gif

One way would be to hold down e.g. X as soon as you hold turn on the xbox. If XoS detects the button it will start, otherwise it would load the default bios. Ok, technically you can't make it 0seconds, but you could make it 1ms it would be the same to the human brain.

Or, my preferred way, would be to make XeniumOS only boot if you e.g. hold the eject button for a few seconds; otherwise the default bios will load. But I guess XoS is the thing remembering the default BIOS so it all gets a bit murky... in any case, that's still a delay, just in a different spot :/.

Heheh, I was joking about that delay thing you know! wink.gif

Anyway, while it would be ideal if they had added the option to only boot the XeniumOS if you hit a specific button, unfortunately they didn't choose to go that route.  They would have to add another solder point that could connect to the Eject button to switch the boot bank for something like that to be possible.

OzXodus has an 80kb video downloadable from their website showing an actual boot with a zero delay setting:

See for yourself.

I know there could be technical issues preventing this, but the boot should have been this way:
On startup, hold any key to enter the Xenium OS.
Or even hold the power button for a second or two to enter the XOS
Otherwise load the default BIOS

Shouldn't need to have an additional (2-5 second) bootup time.

I hope X3 gets their bootups right.

I’m not trying to call you out or any thing.  But how do we know yet if they haven’t engineered another wire to enable that.  So far I have seen no install guides.  And also this is just the first version of the OS maybe they will come out with different versions.  And eventually maybe you can choose your own back ground logo thing if you don’t like it.

I personally don’t mind the extra boot time.  I have always thought switches were ugly and the way my x box is in a cabinet it would be hard to change bios settings with the switches mounted in the back.

I am a complete noob though so if the is something I am missing please enlighten me.
