Boot with a rescue disc (e.g. HeXEn) and use either the disc menu or FTP to reinstall your dashboard.

No, there's nothing you can change in evox.ini to prevent someone from deleting your dashboard. Just rebuild the disk, and keep a copy of HeXEn handy in case your friend does the same thing again.

On the .xbe matter do not even think about deleting or renaming any .xbe on the C:\drive.

Originally the MS dash uses xboxdash.xbe but with modding that one you see on the C;\drive is usually launches something like the Live Updater (which, of course, doesn't work now).

However in the Backups folder, probably on the E:\drive, you should have the MS dash backup and that will use the original xboxdash.xbe. In other words after modding you can have two identically named xboxdash.xbes which launch totally different things. That is why you have to be certain what you're doing as regards .xbes and if you're not: leave them alone.

Also do not alter the Evox.ini paths either until you are sure what .xbe launches what dash. From the look of it the msxboxdash.xbe should launch the MS dash and is set to be used by the DVDPlayer but the Audio CD player looks likely it will not work because it is pointing at the wrong/non-working .xbe.

This is typical post-modding and all you need to do is edit the .ini to point at the same .xbe as the DVD player. But only do that once you have established msxboxdash.xbe does indeed launch the MS dash.

You can check the MS dash option in the EvoX main menu works and if it does then you can edit the AudioCD Player .ini entry but it would be easiest to use an UnleashX dash > File Explorer to check the .xbes directly and do any editing.
