Ok so I have an original XBOX (version 1.6) and an Executer 3 CE solderless mod chip.

I dont game on this xbox and never will I strictly bought it with the intention of setting it up as a home theater PC (sort of). I want to be able to stream pics, vids, music, and movies from my PC over the network to my TV. I plan on using XBOX media center. My friend has a setup like this and it is awesome!


Ok I am a total noob to this and need to know exactly what to do...

Here is what I have.

XBOX (ver 1.6) all opened up
Executer 3 CE solderless mod chip w/ adapter
Formatted 120gb hard drive

I can figure out the part about getting the chip in its just everything after that which I need help with.

Here is what I think I have to do...

    * Open XBOX
    * Install mod chip
    * Put everything back in with a new formatted hard drive
    * Turn XBOX on
    * Flash Bios (done via FTP? Really not sure at all on this part..)
    * Install XBOX media center with crossover cable via FTP?
    * reboot xbox
    * profit?

Is that correct? Sorry for the noob questions?

Also links would be a major plus if you could.... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Does the bios version matter or are the newer Bios' good on all versions of the XBOX?

You are going to have a hard time getting some one to tell you where to get illegal files.  Take my advice and use this tutorial http://www.xbox-scene.com/articles/xbins.php

And yeah you have got the right idea about the whole process.  There are lots of other tutorials at the scene to help you through.  Its really the best way to learn (its the way I did).

No you have to have the Bios flashed before you install the Dashboard. AID usually has some BIOSs on the Disk for you to flash your chip but its been a few years since i used and i may have that wrong.

AID will prep the HDD for you ready to install the dashboard. I'd do it this order:

Flash your bios
boot fromAID and prep your hdd
Install EvoX and Media Center (or just Media center if you dont want EvoX)
Setup networking to connect to your PC
