Serious Help Needed W/ X2.3b Lite Plus

Sounds like one of your connections isnt good.  Try checking all your soldered connections (voltages, resolder?) and it should remediate your problems.

try repositioning it. solderless chips have to be set in just right.

Yeah, I had a 2.3b Lite+ before I got a friend to solder in my X3. The indicator lights only tell you that you are getting close. And if you have solder in the LPC holes like mine did, it's a tiny bit harder. Just keep nudging it bit by bit until it works. That's what I had to do. It will work, but it takes some patience.

to do this u will need a soldering iron 15w, some soldering braid or a decent solder sucker.

If you're not confident about your soldering skills, don't take the chance. It will work, just takes some time.

yeah it's possible to hold it down while it boots up (you can take the chip off after it loads).

I started out with a 2.2 lite +....worthless chips in my opinion.  I wish I would have had the guts to solder back then...I would have saved lots of time fiddling with the position of the chip.  Like the others have said....just keep moving it around until it boots up all the way.  Be careful not to shock yourself though.

yeah you have to reboot every time.  it won't load up if you move it to the correct spot after it's already turned on.

to reflash the chip, you'll need an X 2.x programmer.  I wouldn't bother though...it's almost 100% sure to have a bios on it.  your only problem is improper alignment.

I do not wish to damage the tracks any more than they already are...
I don't see any mention in your earlier posts that you had damaged traces.  How did that happen?

Yikes!  You should not be scraping the sharp pins along the motherboard!  Be careful when you position or your board could end up like this.

be careful with your d0 pin...it most likely won't be too bad, unless it really eats into the mobo and breaks through one of the traces on it.
I had tons of problems with my 2.2 lite + chip too (although the d0 pin wasn't as sharp on it).  It's really fickle.  Sometimes it would seem like it would boot up and be alligned with hardly any positioning from me, and sometimes I'd work on it for an hour trying to get it to boot up.

good news, everybody! i was able to get my xbox fixed. i went back to my friend and he tried the chip that he gave me in his xbox. It worked fine, so there was no problem with the chip. What he ended up doing was taking a flathead screwdriver and scraping the D0 point and then i tried the modchip again. It worked, and i was able to lock my hdd again.  biggrin.gif
