X3 Install Bad.... Then Good!

These where 2 Executer 2 lite's, 1 virgin. all to X3's and 120 Gig HD's
1.0 boxes with Slayer's 2.6 installs.

Every thing went smooth except one of the upgraded units.
The box would come on and turn off and on 2 times then stay on..WTF  blink.gif

Checked everything, no video, no audio, frag red/green.

After further review, It was a bad solder job on one of the header pins, The X3 requires
all the holes be used for the LPC. (means replacing the one already in there(X2))
Not a big deal, I used a solder sucker. Nice and clean. It was on the re-solder of the longer header I muff'd it.  I couldn’t tell until I put it under the 30x microscope.
The solder was up on the top of the pin and not surrounding the collar of the hole therefore no contact. I was relieved after I soldered it for the boot to flashbios 3.0 (1,2on34,off)
I flashed it …Http:// style with 3108 and all is well.

A good tip is the failure indicators, On-Off-On booting then frag...Red/Green
With mod In or OUT...I removed everything but the header and It still Quacked...
I knew it had to be the header. (messure twice , cut once tongue.gif )
