So if I have an x2.6 soldered to my 1.6 mobo, can I just install the x3 without further soldering?

Here's some pics that I took while installing mine:

(looks much cleaner now, it's not fully installed in those pics)

And some screenies of the BIOS:

hey, so I have a question, as I have never installed a chip before. I should get my chip mid-next week, but I was wondering if using the pin header install like you did leaves enough clearance for the dvd drive above it (I assume so, but how much?), or if there is more space to mount the chip on the left wall of the case

All I was asking above was if I decide to purchase an x3, and I already have an x2.6 wire installed to my 1.6 motherboard, can I just plug and play with the x3?  I saw two extra red wires coming off of his install, so I'm thinking there's just a little further soldering.

yeah, the x2.6 and the x3 have exactly the same installation, so it'll just be plug and play for you. the two wires are if you want to have a hdd activity LED and lan activity LED.

I think only those that won the contest got the free X2.6  Everyone else will only get the X3 when they order.
