Using Xbox Hd Without Original Xbox Booting

Hi!
I have a big problem. My xbox is not starting anymore... motherboard is scrap... I wanna know if there is a way I could use my HD in another Xbox.

I've heard that you can't unlock an HD without using the xbox you've locked it with...

Any help would be appreciate :)
