X2 Pro Not Found, Checked All Solders, Fcc, Nada..
« on: April 09, 2003, 09:02:00 PM »

I think it is the bios. I have the same problem with the xlite.
I email the company and they told me that the xlite is blank and that i need to flash it.

Go back to the bios.....

you need to flash you xpro with a bios. I though you have done that already.

That is the first thing you need to do

I've got the same thing here.  I've gotten it to recognize one time with a parallel cable (and flash was corrupt), and two times with no cable (plugged directly into back of computer).. first one flashed okay but did not work (said it was verified though), second time it quit right in the middle of the flash.
Haven't figured out what makes it see the chip and not see it, but so far its about 1 out of every 100 tries it sees it.

easy fix

(forgot the type of mod chip (just been drinking with a client - non xbox related) so my mind is assuming X2pro)

Make sure mod chip and programmer are plugged in properly with all associated connectors and the FCC cable - you'd be surprised how many people don't check for obvious things while troubleshooting under stress.

Turn ALL switches OFF from the x2 external programmer.

Plug programmer in the back of a computer/Laptop

use ECP or ECC (mind not working - sorry) LPT setting

verify with info on the manager and you should get 01 05

still don't work?

Your LPC connections are probably screwed - check for any tin/wire run overs and if suspicious resoldier using less tin and more accuracy

recheck

still don't work?

Now here's a big secret - shhh

Use a voltage/multimeter and check ALL end to end connections on your FCC cable - This thing is a royal pain in the ass and is the main cause of many hiccups with the X2pro, why? Because 'ordinarily' the x2pro modship won't work nor flash without it working PROPERLY.

So make sure ALL traces are fine on it, if you find a fault on ANY of them, - let me know, I'll tell you how to fix it.

You know I've had the same problems... It recognized it once but then saying status 01 01 (I think). So I busted out with my volt meter and I only seem to get voltage on a few of the pins through the FCC cable. Does any one know about what and where these voltages should be? I mean just a simple FCC1 = .5 Volts.... FCC20= 5.0 Volts, etc... That would REALLY REALLY help...

Well while I don't have voltages from the FCC Header, I too also seem to only get voltages through a few pins... I think on the FCC20 pin you get like 5.05 Volts or so...

I took voltages from the back of the PCB with it plugged in an powered Up:

Alright,

So I've got the voltages from my XBOX (which doesn't work)... Note that the pin out numbers correspond to the pin numbers shown in the Wire Header installating for the Xecuter Pro2 chip on the Xbox-scene website...

Since I've installed the pin header, I have voltage both from the back of the chip when it is plugged in, and just the raw pins:

---BACK OF CHIP---
1) .22 Volts (seems odd)
2) 3.29 Volts
3) 5.05 Volts
4) 3.25 Volts
5) 3.25 Volts
6) .57 Volts (seems odd too)
7) 3.25 Volts
8) 3.25 Volts

---Directly FROM Pins---
1) .26 Volts (seems odd)
2) 3.29 Volts
3) 5.05 Volts
4) 3.27 Volts
5) 3.26 Volts
6) 0 Volts
7) 3.25 Volts
8) 3.25 Volts

Do you think somebody can post the Voltages they have from a working board?
