Reports of freezing at logo etc

This should solve - post reports in here

Well .. couldnt get ANY of the 4975's to work ... or the 4976 ... but the 4976.02 works like a charm .. Thanks Team Xecuter !

Hopefully this will resolve any problems everyone's been experiencing with these two recent releases.  However, I would still recommend not flashing with the new EvoX dash - the flashing problems were unrelated to the BIOS' bugs.

Is it possible to flash X2Lite's unused 512K bank? I curently have 4973 v1.0 active. How do i flash the bank containing v1.1 bios which I don't need? And do I use 2X256K or 1X512K?

Thanks beforehand

simply create the 1MB bios you wish to use with Xecuter2 BIOS Manager

if you are using 256k based bios's - you need to have two sets of 2 x 256k

Wow, I feel like Moses talking to a burning bush  wink.gif

Thanks for your reply, Uber - maybe I should wait til your X2L programmer goes on sale before I kill my preciousss xb...

Just to clarify (i'm a bit sloow) - 2 x 256K 4973 or 4974 + 2 x 256K 4976.02? Then use the bios select jumper to switch between the 2?

If i flash my current 512K bank, won't it overwrite 4973? I kinda wanna keep that in case of a bad flash. Is it possible to flash the "unused" 512K bank and if yes, how?

When you are flashing the X2 Lite, it doesn't matter what bank you have selected.   The flashing through Evox will erase and flash the entire 1MB of the chip.  So, what ever was on there before will get erased no matter whether you flash just 1 x 256K or whatever.

Create a 1MB BIOS that has the first 512K with one bios (for a 256K BIOS that would be the same one in each of the first 2 256K Blocks and another BIOS in the second half).

You will always erase what you have on there so make sure what you are flashing has what you want to end up with.   If you just flashed it with a 256K BIOS, Evox would replicate that to all 4 256K Blocks.

I generally always use a good known working BIOS in one bank and a new BIOS in the other 512K so that if the new BIOS I am trying doesn't work, i just revert back to the known working one and reflash.

Schmo! Excellent! All the fog is gone and I can see clearly now, thank you kindly for your informative and to the point response.

I know all the info is in the forums but sometimes it is hard to piece it all together, like a jigsaw puzzle. I've looked around quite a bit but got conflicting info as to how this is to be done properly and wanted weathered veteran's opinion on the matter. Excuses, excuses... biggrin.gif

Thanks again

I'll try: build a 1MB image containing 2x256K 4973 and 2x256K 4976.02, ftp the bin to c:bios, power off, flash enable jumper, flash, flash disable jumper, power on and test. I'll post results

ps. What's up with forward slashes not being displayed? Dangerous for people who cut/paste

I seem to have a problem modifying the 4976.02 bios using xbtool. I go into xbtool, select the five blue colors, select f partition, select 1024k, click extract, double click on the x2 4976.02 bios, it creates a x2 4976.02 folder, I click on pack, then double click on the xboxkrnl in that folder, and it creates the x2 4976.02 1024k bios. When I flash my openbox-PCBioxx with BioXXFlasher v1.30, I get a green Xbox logo with xecuter at the bottom, and it boots to the xboxdash.xbe instead of evoxdash.xbe. Am I missing something, or doing something wrong because I am starting to get really frustrated. If anyone can point me in the right direction or e-mail me a 1024k x2 4976.02 blue f bios (#xbins doesn't have it), I would really appreciate it.

im keen to flash with this new bios but since i have an x2 lite i dont wanna risk making my x2 lite useless due to the evoX flashing problems with the new evoX version. Anyone know when an evoX fix is coming out to fix this to put my mind at ease?

The rules here are not to request any SDK compiled software or BIOS

the only advice I can give you is to try #xbins on efnet - cant really help you more than thaat
