                                    Yes, put the new hdd in, prepare it using the evolutionx hdd prepare 1.2 disk, boot with evolutionx and run the backup option.  Copy the password file from the backup directory and use that password to lock the disk using your pc.  With the xecutor, you wont be able to replace the msdashboard with evolutionx and get it to boot when disabled, even with the hdd locked.
There's plenty of tutorials telling you how to get the password out of the text file and lock/unlock your drive.
