What happens if you press down on the Spider pbc with a plastic object whilst booting up? Does it still frag?
well, i soldered wires from the back of the motherboard to the spiderwire pcb, so it has 100% connectivity. and it still frags when i hold the modchip down.

Try unplugging the IDE cable from the dvd drive, then boot it... if it boots up properly afterwards, plug it back in (while on) and you shouldn't have to do it again.... this happened with mine just yesturday and that worked, don't know if it's an isolated incident or what, but worth the try, also make sure your Jumpers on the hard drive are set to cable select.
well, i flashed my eeprom with the wrong unlock code and it wont boot to the dashboard. i know the spider OS will boot because it did in the 1.0 xbox i installed it in.
i was reading through some X3 tutorials, because that was the replacment modchip i was planning to get, and i noticed that you had to solder a wire to an alternate 5v because the 6lpc hold didnt supply that anymore. could this be the problem? was there any successful 1.6b spiderchip gx installs?
