OK well you flashed the right bios and size to your spider but it sounds like you have a bad flash ( just unlucky ) or it's not making a good connection with the lpc now !

Take the spider out and pop it in a xbox that has a male pin header in it. So you can flip the spider upside down and push it on. ground motherboard d0 and see if it boots. If not then hotswap to flash it. if it does boot then you know your chip is not aligned correctly in your xbox.

I put the spider from the 1.4 xbox onto the 1.6 xbox with the spice solderless adapter after I had loaded the spider bios cd that you (hack) had made.

when i select flash on a 1.6 it says "manufactures ID 09 device 00 !!flash not writable!!

the d0 wire from the E point of the spiderchip is touching the metal side of the case to ground.

I have not touched any of the 6 wires that are part of the sp.ice solderless pin header.

maybe this is why it wont let me flash it???

ok this is the story so far.

after no luck with my 1.6 xbox i have managed to borrow a friends who has a SP.ICE on a 1.0 xbox with a male pin header. only the D0 wire from the pinhead not the 6 that I have to use for the 1.6.

I put the chip in upside down and was able to sucessfully flash with the hackdabox spider reflash CD.

after it reflashed it powered up. I powered on the 1.0 xbox with the spider (upside down) on the pin header. This booted the standard M$ dash (should have booted to XBMC.)

I put the spider back in the 1.4 xbox but it is still doing the power on 3 times and then red/green frag. I have reseated the chip lots of times but get the same result. I have even force it down with my finger and powered on but same result.

HELP. I'm not sure what to try next.

I think I should have ordered another chip. this Spider is such a pain.

This is my brothers xbox so I would like to use the chip without having to folk out lots of money or havnig to solder it into the XBOX. are you able to get a male pinheader to run this off???

The reason XBMC didn't boot is becuase you have to rename the xbe to evoxdash.xbe for the bios to find it or edit the bios so it will launch a different file name but the 1st option is much easier !

Well your spider works fine and if you got a pinheader soldered in it would work perfectly !

The only other option would be to use a solderless adaptor but these things are not cheap and you may still need to do something for d0 !
