The Red/Black wire is just  the power for custom lights controlled by the chip according to spiders website.

No the solder wont flow down the lpc hole properly which will cause no or little connection. Use a headerpin !

Ok I started installing this chip on what xbox-scene tells me is a v1.6 but the MOBO holes are solid so I can only assume that it is really a v1.6b and from what I can tell this chip does not work with v1.6b without sodering.
I am now trying to install it on my brothers v1.6, and I have goten all the led's to light up when the chip is off but once I turn the chip on the D0 leg goes out and the system reboots 3 times.  Does anybody have any ideas on how to fix this?

Sorry you can't solder the chip to the motherboard at all !  You will have to use a sqeeze method as the new Spider GX does not have a headerpin soclket !

are these holes above open or full of solder ?

If they are full of solder you have a V1.0 motherboard. If you have a xcaliber video chip with "XBOX" printed on it then you have a V1.6 !

Perhaps you are saying the via's ( very small holes in the motherboard) are full of laquer and that is preventing the spiderchips legs going into the holes !

pop.gif Hey yall i have been monitoring this board for the last 3 days or so and trying to pick some ideas up but allas i am running out. I have Removed most of the Sotter and still cant get this chip to work. I am running a V1 X box and all i can do is get the thing to Boot 3 times then flash a yellow light. sometimes i even get a red light.
Anyway i look at the chip and i can see one of the LED's is not lite but no matter what i do i cant get it to light. I got it to light once but that was about it or if i do get it to light i cant get others to light. Please help!

Hi, I'd just like to add that I too have been having the exact same trouble with this bloody chip. I've fitted a few of it's predecessors, but so far I've failed with two of these newer models.

Everything is hooked up right, but I get the bloody 3xreset + FRAG thing when the chip is turned on - regardless of which bank is selected. I followed the manual's instructions to the letter. One thing I will note is that the LED which seems to be associated with the V1.6's D0 doesn't appear to light up, when the rest of them do. I'm running a V1.5, and so I'm not using the other wires [they're sticking in the air for now, just in case they should be needed or something - I'll get rid of them when the chip works]. First time I got this failure I attributed it to a faulty chip and had Divineo replace it. Now that it's happened again I doubt Divineo will be willing to give me a second replacement...

Has anybody found out just how to get this thing working? Is it a problem with an entire batch?

Oh why couldn't I have just waited for the original Spider to be in stock? At least I know that thing works. I bought the GX thinking it'd be an improvement, but all it's been so far is a headache.

It's the via's I guess, the contacts that you place that plastic guide over to get the thin wires into.  Are the contacts supposed to be solid or should there be holes that the wires go into like the chip going into the LPC Pinouts?

Thanks for the help by the way.

V1.6 needs a solid lpc connection as well as the legs making a good contact in the vias (very small holes in the motherboard) this can be anywhere from hard to impossible due to the holes being filled with laquer !

On V1.0 - V1.5 it is easier as you only need d0 making a good contact ( cut the other legs off as they are useless to you and could short on something )

The stupid design of this chip prevents it from fitting the lpc properly on all models ! Try pushing down firmly on the chip with a non metalic object ( near the lpc area ) while you switch on the chip an see if it boots while you apply pressure !

If it boots ok with pressure then your troubles can be somewhat fixed using a squeezing method !

Yes some V1.6 motherboards have clear vias and other's are full of laquer , this prevents you fom being able to push the spiders leg into the hole. Other times the leg is forcd in but is not making a good contact with the metal ring due to the laquer. You can try using a needle to dig the laquer out but its dangerous and not easy. If you can solder then i suggest you rebuild the lpc using wires they same way you would for other modchips !

I bought my XBOX yesterday and a SpiderGX ModChip and I have the same problem related in this thread.

I cannot found any help in the SpiderGX website.

When I turn off my SpiderGX all blue LEDs still ON but when I turned it on my XBOX boot for three times and don't work anymore.

I cannot see the SpiderOS too. I have sure that all pins are wired suscessfuly but don't work.

I've hope to see the solutions here.

Regards.

I have the same exact problem with my chip too.  All LED's are on, but when I turn the switch on the D0 light goes out and the system keeps rebooting.  Pretty sick of it at this point and no solution found....
