Make sure you solder the wire from the D0 leg on the SmartXX V2 chip to the pad below the D0 in NOT the Lframe out.

I don't know if it will help, but that's what I could think of taht might of gave you the problem.

I had that same problem, I had the chip and everything soldered correctly, tested it and worked, then put the dvd drive and hard drive and closed it up and then the xbox started to frag.  

In the end I just kept on resoldering and got lucky on my like 20th soldering job, so I suggest keep on resoldering
