A Bit Confused
« on: September 03, 2004, 06:50:00 PM »

I'm installing a smartxx v2 on a v1.6 box. I have already rebuilt my LPC. The last step it says is "solder the Lframe wire to the D0  on your smartxx."  Doesn't that just mean solder that one point to the D0 on my chip?  I've done that and the LEDs come on blue and it frags.  What gives?

Did you follow the guide?  There's a picture showing where the lframe is at the very bottom.

If you did follow the guide then it's probably your soldering, check and double check everything.  Redo it if it still doesn't work.

Ok, so I'm still having trouble.  I desoldered all the LPC wires and the D0 and removed the chip.  I powered it up and and frags! (note: the pin header is still soldered in and the dvd and hdd are unplugged).  Is my board fried?

you likely damaged the lframe via somewhere, or have a solder splat or some other kind of short circuit somewhere.
