OK, I see the difference.

All in all, we're still speaking about the same idea though.

QUOTE (CrayZEE @ Jun 26 2004, 09:48 PM)
Another downside is that i don't see SmartXX going to evolve the OS without
violating other licenses (to support samba) and i'm not even sure if smartxxOS
is going to be updated with features. As i saw, there wasn't one feature added
since release (which they didnt previously mention at launch time) so i quite
barely think they will support their chip much further then they are now.

What exactly makes you think so? Although your comparison of SmartXXand Xenium is really the most objective I read so far, I do get the impression that you hate Franz or the SmartXX team quite a lot. Why wouldn't they be able to evolve SmartOS further? They already announced a new SmartOS which will be published after XOS 2 went public. I have to admit that Franz announced it the way he always did ("Of course we have lots of features... blah... blah"), but please tell me: why should the features of the SmartXX already have reached their limits?

Don't make the mistake of taking Franz and his personality as single representative of SmartXX. Keep up your objective comparison, but don't try to fish for illusionary negative points for (team) SmartXX.

Btw, there's only 3 smartxx guys so far i know, you have the hardware guy ,
**** (dont say his name, dont know if he wants it to be public) , franz
the OS coder, and the wholesale guy ***** (again wont say the name)

So its 3 people, the hardware guy seems to not care a lot about the scene etc,
he leaves all the work to franz as i seen it , then the wholesale guy, well he surely
doesn't have the best job there with this, so i believe he isnt really a representive.

So imo, Franz is the team, as sad as it sounds; as none of the other 2 talk to the
public.

Again i point out that i dont know for sure if its only 3 ppl, its the ppl i know of
that could/should be considerred team SmartXX, nor do i know for facts the future
of the SmartXX OS. I just say my opinion out of the stuff i saw or been told, or
got told by smartxx members. So no facts here with SmartXX OS or their team
formation, just the info i know shared , and an opinion!.

Wait, if the x3 bios has the xbe embedded within it, at probably 1 mb.... what's to stop us from using it on our xeniums and smartxxs?  I mean... any "security checks" would easily be busted through.  So, wtf m8?

Because it has a security (else it would work)

So what needs to be done is not much in words, but alot lookin

1) find the algorithm it is encrypted in
2) find the check they do that makes it an X3
3) crack it
4) boot it up on any modchip  love.gif

EDIT: Fixed some spelling

pffft keep dreaming

Plus you miss Bank switching via the OS, its all dipswitches, for that matter, an
X3 can'T do more then my xenium with ind-bios, it even does less. Worst thing
is, we could run the X3 bios on all modchips (if they didnt protect it with some ID

hardware doesn'T have

oh really? we miss bank switching? notice the upper right corner always shows bank status.. it even shows real time dip switch settings.. nexttime.. dont speak please

I love how you can review something you don't even have in your hands...

I read that the smartxx xenium bios's were just the basic linux kernel with attatched applications

as you donthave XBE with linux - then its kinda the exact same principal

who cares how its made as long as it works ??

too much fanboy bithcing here - as usual

bring on all mods - ill play iwth all of them - but X3 DOES look cool

remember even with smartxx or xenium you still have to load a hacked bois regardless - at least xecuter dont have to go looking for help from 3rd parties to release bios hacks - which seem to be used by most ppl in the scene
dont hate have a beer - you just make yourselves look dumb in the long run  beerchug.gif  beerchug.gif

And indeed you can run X3 Bios on any other modchip, sniperkilla, you will be
the first i come tease when i got an X3 Bios booting up on my Xenium / Xbit
(even though its not necessary, ind-bios is better).

you wont though.. so i wont hold my breath..

and dont go trying to cover up your tracks now saying you were talking about an old build of the x3 config.. thats bullshit

Interesting

I cant remember ever paying for an Xecuter bios

nor many customers of mine who use cheapmods

and im sure there are many xenium and smartxx users who use this free bios too

maybe your quote should have been:

i'm gonna go to MS and talk shit to them about longhorn cause its really buggy and doesnt have this and that feature  rolleyes.gif

QUOTE (CrayZEE @ Jun 28 2004, 12:58 AM)
And for now Xecuter Bios is the most used, it doesn't beat ind-bios, the scene
will spit on an X3 when it see's ind-bios.
Iit has way more features, its free, runs on a cheapmod, and doesnt miss one
single feature X3 has, oh and to add it works on every modchip.

interesting

so how does ind-bios hack the startup functions "live" if it runs from a cheapmod and the hard drive hasn't been initialized yet ?

Im sure if ind bios has features the final X3 does not have they will be added if they are cool

either way I'll still want to use an X3 - purley because its a cool looking mod and they have always done quality in the past.

I think you should use an X3 before bashing into it for no reason at all - it seems you have a hidden agenda - its quite lame you know sad.gif

QUOTE (CrayZEE @ Jun 28 2004, 12:58 AM)
@LLama, actually XOS2 isnt based off cromwell  laugh.gif

I'm sorry can you quote where I said it was ?

You kinda get the feeling you are trying to discredit Xecuter no matter what. Somehow I dont think your opinions will matter to anyone at all. You make yourself look kinda funny smile.gif

I think you should remember Xecuter were developing cpld based mods when the Xenium team were trying to figure out how to add pogo pins to a cheapmod.
