Every modchip can 1 thing and that is run a hacked bios. That is all they do. they dont play backups, they dont play your illegal movies you got off emule
All they do i ALLOW you to put the SOFTWARE that can run things. you can have modchip succesfully installed and i will look EXACTLY the same as when you didnt have a modchip. You need to read more.

And i would say get a cheapmod from www.llamma.com all chips do at least one thing, run a hacked bios and this is all you need to put the software on. This chip is 14.99 and it will run the same as a SmartXX which is about 60-75 i think (sorry if this is invalid info, as im not looking at any of the new chips)

1) Does 3b Gen or 4th Gen matter?----No a 1st gen will work fine

4) And last but not least, getting my movies to play, is that simply software---Getting a game to run is software, back ups is software, everthing is sofware, the chip has nothing to do with it

The only advantage you would have with a xenium or smartxx is initial setup.   If you have a home network already in place, it is much much easier on a smartxx because of the LAN flashing features, especially if you have a thompson dvd drive which has trouble reading a lot of CD media.  Another reason would be if you wanted to use xbox live.  Other than that you are best off with a tsop flash or a cheap mod.

Yup, totally. The Xenium fanboys were flaming away as if this one sale could make their chip "King of the Scene". LOL!     Anyways, props to all those who were nice enough to give this guy the cold hard facts about what he needed for his box. Omg i got my smartxx today uninstalled my chammy and installed smartxx in about 15 minutes DAMN this thing Rox.

Any modchip that installs with a pinheader has my bid.  Easy installation and removal and it works for what you need it to do.  I like the SmartXX for the fact that I can format flash etc without using a boot cd.  Otherwise, any chip works.

I'm glad to see such nice and informative posts from people on the scene. When Syx posted this in the Xenium Forum, all I saw was bashing of chips they compared.

With your honest information and personal opinions you guys have also help me with my decision in another chip
