We've been struggling to find someone who wants/can go.

Most of the staff have circumstances that prevent them from making what would be an international trip.

- Family
- Jobs
- Legalities (me.. I can't leave on short notice without filing documents.. long story)

We do have a short list of people who we need replies back from still.  I'm sure we'll release news as soon as there is something to report.

If in the end no one is sent to Germany.. I am willing to put up 2 members of SMARTxx here in Toronto.. they can stay at my place.. and spend 2 days on the lake in my boat while showing us the goods. (me and Syrus are both here.. well.. He's 50 Minutes away. but quite doable.)

Course.. then that means they'd have to hop a plane.. and get through Canadian Customs. (with their chips)

(see thats all i know) although id rather go there with some money for bulk and get chips in person. easy quick no worrying about shipments  biggrin.gif

damn choosing a respected memeber of the scene better turn out better than electing presidents.. certain ones are such liang ho's (presidents)

Yes, the cars are damn good!

I'd like to visit Germany. Or atleast the SmartXX labs.
I knowe that I'm not a respected guy(or am I, someone tell me), and NOT everyone knows me, but I've got the time and that kind of stuff to come to the Germany.

Is Smart-xx offering to pay the way?  If so, I can't imagine how there could be any difficulty getting some X-S member to go over there.  But in the end, who the hell has $500 or more to plop down on airfair just to find out if a couple games have chip-detection.  If there are, indeed, games with chip detection we will, afterall, find out about it by default as people will presumably buy these games.

But christ, if it's all-expenses-paid WTF?  It's a trip to Germany.  People actually go there for fun.  Like, on vacation.  It's not like it would be a chore to go to Germany.  It's not like a trip to the land-fill after spring cleaning.  Or will armed guards meet you at the plane, escort you to the Smart-XX labs, and escort you back to the plane?

Yea, forgot the food. I wouldn't go there for beer, atleast for 6 years, 'cos I'm only 11(and March 11 I'm 12, yay)

Maybe you missed the post earlier.. but not everyone can pack a bag and hop a plane and go halfway around the world for a weekend.

Real life comes first.  This is.. after all.. a hobby for those of us running this site.  Most of the staff have issues with family and jobs to consider first.  Others.. have legal issues to consider any time they jump on a plane.

If I was single.. and didn't have a kid on the way.. and legal matters to attend to.. I'd be the first one on a plane and grabbing myself a beer and knockwurst.

It's all about PRIORITIES.

The staff never wanted a free trip to anywhere.  Just some answers.  But they aren't forthcoming.. and most of us have lost interest in the matter.  The damage is done.

dunno why I ignored this part of your post...

Yes.. the expenses they have offered to pay.

We wanted to send XS staff.. but from the final list we considered.. XS staff would not be going (reasons already mentioned).. althought we have one XS staff member as an alternate. (backup)

Xantium will make the list public when and if the final selected candidates agree to go.. and then smartxx still has to approve our 2 selections. (they have the descretion to no approve our choises.. after all they are footing the bill)

As of Friday.. (last I spoke to XAN on this matter) it was still up in the air.

Update: On the 4th of March I sent the 2 names of the people to SmartXX and Franz.

The 2 people are:
* TJ_CRS (the joker) of Team Avalaunch
* Troed (he is maybe not a mass poster on this forum, but he has been active in several serious tech/hardware discussions).

Now it's up to SmartXX to arrange a date and place with them.
