Xbox Frags After Failed Hard-mod Attemp
« on: July 17, 2010, 10:25:00 AM »

I think I Found Problem:

Now I need to know if it can be fixed.

The top d0 point on my motherboard does have connectivity to the bottom d0 point.
The top d0 point has a broken trace.

should i connect the d0 point to the broken trace.  (about 1/2 inch of trace stripped off) or should I connect the top d0 point to the bottom d0 point or the bottom d0 point to the trace?

Fixxxxxed.

I took a piece of solder wick and put a dab of solder on each end.  Then I pressed one end to the d0 point and the other to the end of the broken trace on top.   D_m!!!!.   I got the ms logo to boot.  now I will go back and try to mod again.

Ok I am never going to hard mod again.  I am going to soft mod.  I was able to fix a torn trace to get xbox up and going but just get fragging with duox2.  sorry for wasting space.  I am going to join a soft mod forum.

Ya know, the term "Hardmod" doesn't necessarily mean mod chip. You could have just flashed the TSOP. Much easier, and a ton less soldering involved. Additionally, since the discontinuation of xbox live, there really is no need to have the ability to boot back to the retail bios (previously one of the most common reasons to choose chip over TSOP flash).
