As already stated the headers are in wrong.
The soldering needs correctly reflowing on the LPC. this is definitely down to the LPC install.
Be careful removing the female header now as you can easily damage the LPC

just looked at your pictures....
dude, that shit is ugly.

first, what's the deal with the white wire on the back? if you need it, clean it up. that shit looks horribile. i don't even know what you're trying to do there. did you kill a trace?

the D0 connection is crap. your D0 wire has so much insulation missing it could be crossing with any of those points in the area back there. cut the wire so it's only stripped back barely enough to make the connection.

your pinheader (male on the chip)...needs to be removed. sorry i said it was okay earlier. the pins are all uneven, and that's gonna cause problems. your pins need to be even so they all sit proper. you can do this by wicking out the solder and just starting over fresh. do not install the male pinheader on your mobo looking like this. the male pins must be even.

the LPC isn't as bad as i expected, but it's still bad. clean all the flux off with 91% isopropyl (and don't apply power until it's bone dry). and take some new pictures with the pinheaders in the new locations.

The days of xbox modding are pretty much gone. I'm glad I was able to take part. Hehe. It was very enjoyable.  I liked it alot...thanks to you Chancer. You provided much insight.

first of all....

it doesn't matter which pinheader is on which side.
i don't want to say you wasted 4 hours, but you kinda did.
it really doesn't matter if your connections are solid.
the way you did it is bad form, but it's perfectly valid.
oh well. move on from here. you're in the same place you were before.
sorry, i should have said something before. i left it to the rest of these guys to say and nobody did.

second. i don't want to hear criticism about how "modding is dead". i sold almost 1000 duoX2's this year. go tell them xbox modding is dead. why would you even make the comment? a comment like this has no place in a technical support forum.

Firstly, look at my post! Please tell me where it says, xbox modding is dead?
If, you sold 1000 duoX2's good for you....you don't have to brag.

Secondly, in response to these words  by you.

I said that xbox modding is pretty much gone only  because I was making an addition to what Chancer said.  He was saying how just a few years ago that the type of mistake by expandingman was common place.

I give you props for selling modchips that contain no bios. You are doing a very smart thing. I never meant to step on no ones toes.  I even sent a former customer your way.  I sent uberdeev your way.  I know he bought from you too.  I saw him leave you a feedback on your thread. I didn't have anymore duoX2's.
I really wasn't focusing on selling duoX2's.

Litspliff, I don't want beef with you! We cool
Peace out!

no bragging, i'm not getting rich over here. in fact, i don't really make any money worth mentioning off of them. i'm just trying to spread the disease, if you know what i mean. one day my source dried up, so i became the new source. nothing more.

who's got beef? nobody here. i think you are taking this the wrong way. it's cool dude. chill.
thanks for the referral, also. i'm just saying that xbox modding is alive and well. many people are getting into it for the first time now that killing an xbox won't set you back an entire paycheck. a 50$ fuck up is way softer than a 100$ fuck up, so in that respect, a lot of people that stayed away before, are just now getting into it.

i wasn't calling you an asshole, i just think you are wrong about that specific statement. we can disagree and still be friends. and much love for sending people my way. did you sell chips at one point? i kinda got that impression from your "I never meant to step on no ones toes" comment. if so, the scene owes you props for bringing the goods, and you get mad props from me for helping this dude out with his mod-gone-wrong.

anyway, this is the wrong place to debate the state of modding xboxes. maybe we can debate that on a different forum in a civilized manner.

expanding:

your chip is ready to go, but i can't ship on a holiday, so it'll go out on tuesday.

in the mean time work on what we talked about, and be gentle with that board, as it's been through quite a bit already.

you'll get a new pinheader set with the new chip, so if you clear the solder from the LPC, all you'll have to do is drop the fresh pinheader in and flow fresh solder.

you will have two banks you can boot off of, and they give you some diagnostic information on boot which may be useful if your problem is not with the LPC.

in response to litspliff,

I  probably only sold 10 duoX2's during my modding days.  I sold alot more aladdin XT/Xeno Fx and Xchanger1.2's back in the day. It's all good brother.

@ expandingman

I hope you have some good tools at your disposal.  Get out the magnifying glass and some isopropyl alcohol.  When rebuilding traces you need some sort of fiberglass pen, alot of rosin core flux, and patience.  The isopropyl is to remove the excess flux. You want to use as little flux as possible, but an ample amount is necessary to rebuild traces.  You have to run jumper wires from point a to point b.  It's the  "in between" that you may have to strip back some of the lacquer enamel on the traces to get a hold.  Good luck bro.

thanks for the pics/advice.  I have taken a break from working on this thing the last couple of days.  Tomorrow I will try removing the chip and seeing if the system will power on normally.  If it will, then I will spend some time trying to repair the d0.
